purplecat,

The nicest person I know is a Muslim. The problem is radical Islam, not normal everyday Islam. As I pointed out before, Muslims and Jews used to work very close together. They looked out for each other. It was with the rise of radical Islam that this relationship changed. I am sorry that you ran into a radical Muslim and VERY happy to hear that you didn't end up over there. Hopefully you will meet a moderate Muslim who will change your mind about Muslims in general.

'spider' sweetheart,

I am denouncing, not attacking your propaganda message. It doesn't take seven pages of confused retoric and a gore filled video to establish that there is undescribable violence done to women around the planet, and starting right here in our backyard. To zero-in on 'Violence done to women in Islam', however attrocious, is dishonest, and reduces the crimes to women to a single religious and ethnic group.

Among other incidents of violence done to women around the globe, retrograde and violence happy mentalities right here in the US, as well as the Middle-East, Africa, Asia, India, are all equally to bear the brunt. Who cares that it is illegal here, as many if not more women get hurt, mamed, and killed here in the name of barbaric and violent primitive mentalities than anywhere else in the world.

Bringing up one area of inexcusable violence to women, without even mentionning the context of violence right here in the US, and in the rest of the world, is at the very least a suspect message and intent, and at worst, a downright dishonest and manipulative ploy.

That is no debate sir, and it is to be denounced as such.

Wake-up 'sweetheart', and switch course!

Give up the self-serving pontificating, preaching and evangelical delusion. Do it in your private time with people whom are interested in your evengelical invitation, and willing to partake in it.

Here, on these forums, you need to get with the debating program:
- open-minded attitude,
- a host raising an open question,
- welcoming the equally the pro and cons arguments on both sides of the topic raised,
- and allowing the debate to take its own course by remaining committed to the debate (GENUINE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS) rather than ONE'S PERSONNAL POSITION (BELIEF, CONVICTION, TRUTH, ETC.).

I keep hoping that you'll get the point and see the light 'sweetheart'!

voileazur,

In around 200 universities, an event is taking place called "Islamo-Facism Awareness Week". The point of this event is to make people aware of the horrors of Islamo-Facism. Out of all the universities in America that have a woman studies department, only one has any courses on how women are treated in Islam. By contrast, the majority of the courses offered by these departments are about the much less severe treatment that women receive in the west and Christianity. The video was made to raise awareness and also shame the heads of the women studies departments for not including courses or even course material on the brutality that radical Islam perpetrates on women.

Shade your behavior however you want, call it debating or denoucing. Call my post propaganda if you will. Whatever you say doesn't change the truth in what I posted and it doesn't make me the subject of the thread. You whine about the thread being off topic, but the ONLY THING YOU HAVE TALKED ABOUT TO THIS POINT IS ME.

spider has all of you detractors on the run. What's the quip? Americana on JSH? WTF women are being brutalized. Get a grip, people. It never ceases to amaze me how so many people can jump on a topic and twist it into the confusion of HELL!!! Admit that it's wrong or move on to some meaningless drama about someone's hairpece or deodorant.smokin

Well said Wouldee!!

Its obvious several people are more interested in their own personal hostility towards Spider than they are in having a calm, respectful, reasonable conversation.

$#!+....by the way, kids. It's a big pond here. I'm swimming in it too. I choose to. I want you all to know where I stand. The woman I seek may be here and learning about me. She may not know that yet. I don't know that yet. I speak my mind. I dwell in this body with a singly truthful and sincere heart. I have flaws. I make judgements. I saw things as gray in my youth. Some things i now see as black and white. I will not go to gray to convince any to follow me. I will share. I stand with my sword stabbing the Earth and my knee posed to kneel for only one King. I lean on the hilt and raise it against no man. If and when I swing it, against spirits does it cut.

Detractors?

Not once have I attacked nor critised Spider in this thread..Not once.

I brought a more open, balanced reasoning, to the broader issues of violence to women in ths thread, as well as the also what I deem, as MGM, to this thread, as well as MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION , also supported by various articles...

Not once have I attacked, detracted from his faith nor his personal beliefs, in this thread, not once have I said he is wrong, I have stated clearly where I do not agree with his personal beliefs, or opinions.

There has been no denial on my part that violence against women, against people, haapens in all facets of society.

Not once did I make claims that my personal beliefs are the only set of correct beliefs that anyone must follow.

I take exception to your post wouldee, as I have not earnt it.

I do not agree with Spider on many things, although, I have no issue with raising awareness of violence towards women. ANYWHERE IT HAPPENS.

Spider made an almost assumption about my personal beliefs, when he questioned my stance on abortion, but rather than taking it as a personal attack, and acting in ego, I answered his question.

How did this become a 'my god's better than your god' situation?

Because as a christian, Spider thinks its his right to criticise other religions. The horrors that occur in this religion detract from the horrors in other religions.

Are you aware how the Jews circumcise boys? They use the rabbi's thumb nail.

There are very few religions where horrors are NOT committed in the name of some deity or other.

He just happens to have picked on Islam this week.

What's next week's tirade about Spider? The rise of the wearing large dangley earrings in the gay community??

Hi Jess. the detractors know who they are. Healthy discussion and visceral debate are clearly two different things. I'm surprised that my post is being felt as a sting in your heart. I've not known you to be mean spirited. What's in your heart now I will leave to you to sort out. I like you. I view this thread as a whole, and have commemted on the whole. I read the thread as a whole after the fact. I am not emotionally involved with the hurls back and forth. I'm not choosing one over another. Spider's post has merit. Your observation about male mutilation has merit. I have refrained from offering distractions from the issue that requires our attention and defend Spider's Post. Clearly it has raised activism to share the plight. For you, hun, I offer this. The Bible also states in the new testament that no cuttings in the flesh be made, and further that circumcision of the flesh avails nothing to those that purpose to live in God's grace as apposed to the carnal commandments of the Law. To fail any tenet of the Law is a failure to have perfection fulfilled. It was never intended that the Law be fully obeyed except by the Chosen One to whom it was given to fulfill. The Chosen One who was sent to fufill the Law also offered a better testament to life, in that He lives to uphold His promise to us that whosoever believes in Him shall in no way lose their reward seeing that He lives to uphold said promise by faith. He is not expecting to find righteousness per se on His return but rather faith in the Earth. Tkae comfort my friend that my emotions for defending YOUR point were not given place then as they are now by the need you have directed at me.flowerforyou

Hey 'wouldee',

You wrote:

"... It never ceases to amaze me how so many people can jump on a topic and twist it into the confusion of HELL!!!..."

I couldn't agree with you more.

It took 6 pages in all, and 32 posts of rethorical confusion from 'sweetheart' spider himself to finally give us his infamous premise for the thread. Confusion hell!!! You said it.

Now 'wouldee', looks like you're finding yourself smack in the middle of the 'confusion hell' you were ranting about. You should have followed your own advice, and 'moved on'.

Anyhow, now that you're kind of stuck in it, let me help you out with some simple tips.

To avoid 'confusion hell' in the threads you post in, avoid acting cowardly, or in a veiled manner. That's very important.

If you are directing your comments at one or more individuals in particular, simply name them in your post, and write to them directly.

It completely dispells any chance of 'confusion hell', as you say, and more so, it allows those to whom you direct your statements, to respond to you in a diret and unconfusing manner.

It is, I assure you, the civilized and coherent way of communicating on these forums.

Let me know if you need my help with this issue, I'll be happy to help you.

For now, just keep in mind: to avoid confusion hell like the one you created here, the rule number one is '... to name the people to whom you are directing your comments'.

Best of luck in future posting!

I'm not so sure, but it may not matter.

Those that have the humility and integrity to examine themselves already do so, anyway. Those filled to overflowing with self righteous contempt for Christianity in general or Spider in particular can't see through their contempt, anyway.

What matters to me is that we, as a community, ignore these efforts to derail real conversations, by those that think Spider's voice is unworthy of being heard.

As the pigs said, some people are more equal than others.

What about the oppression of women in everyday life everywhere?

Last time I checked the US itself wasn't 100% with women on rights yet.

"Are you aware how the Jews circumcise boys? They use the rabbi's thumb nail. "

The circumcision is typically done by a mohel and they use surgical instruments, not a thumb nail. I am surprised nobody else commented on your post. It sounds like a "blood libel" for today.

That seems too far-fetched don't ya think?

I'm righ there with you 'massage'!

Self righteous contempt! That's the one! Self righteous and contempt in one 'sweetheart' of a package!

As for this other gem you wrote:
"... What matters to me is that we, as a community, ignore these efforts to derail real conversations, by those that think Spider's voice is unworthy of being heard..."

You know you can count on me for that one 'massage'.

If ever anyone, and mean anyone were to hypocritically or otherwise, try to silence you, or 'spider', with veiled cowardly attacks, eventhough I can't find a thing to agree on with either of you, I would defend your right of 'free speech abuse' right to the end.

Besides, it just wouldn't be as much fun without the two of you. I'm being a bit selfish I know, but I mean it!

As for that last, what you had the pigs say, there is no contest on that one my friend, 'spider' and you win it hands down.
There definitely is a little special 'je ne sais quoi' about you two that give you that 'more equal' edge the pigs are referring to.

... and believe me when I say, you both deserve it !!!

Congrats!

:)

Self righteous and contempt in one 'sweetheart' of a package! Got to remember that one!!!
