For fear that I wasn't clear enough, this video is so incredibly graphic that it should not be watched with any children in the room, at work, with anyone who has a weak heart or stomach. I am NOT joking. There is video of women being beheaded, stoned, beaten and castrated.

Wench, I think if more people forced themselves to face unpleasant realities, we would live in a more just world. My brother used to mock my vegetarianism until he interviewed at a meat plant, and to his shock and disgust saw first hand how the animals were treated.

That said, I'm glad I can't access youtube, I don't think I could handle beheadings today. Maybe tomorrow.

Thank you for your valuable input on the topic. That's what I would say if I were the topic of the thread. Since I am not, I have to wonder why you oppose the dissemination of factual information about the terrible tribal traditions that are practiced in many Middle Eastern and African countries. While I won't go as far as to say that you support those traditions, I think that your desire to avoid offending anyone is so great that it suppresses your desire to see equality and justice for all women.

I never thought about labeling myself. Discrimination is not something I'm attracted to in any way, shape, or form. The reason I asked why? I'm sorry I was too simplistic. The interesting thing, I can't get it to come up. What I found when I put in the title you used for the thread when the address you posted got me to YouTube, but informed me it could not find it was "Honor and Respect for the Women of Islam".

Mass, I recognize that life is not all rosy. I am willing to watch this if only to make sure something is NOT taken out of context and used in a misleading manner for reasons unknown to me. I prefer to know the whole story, not what is chosen to be used in a possible propaganda effort. Fanta, Chopper Dan, Davinci, Zap, Oceans, Bl8ant, Belushi, and AB to name only a few teach well about learning the whole story before even attempting to draw a conclusion. I may not participate in the current events thread often, but I do learn much.

I didn't. I went to www.FrontPageMag.com, like I do most days and it was the lead story. It really moved me, it made what I have read about brutality that women are subjected to real.

My motive in posting it...it's a current event, it's part of Islamo-facism awareness week. It's also a subject I care about deeply. I have nothing against Muslims, but I have a LOT against Muslim radicals who castrate their daughters, slash the throats of their sisters, stone women to death for the crime of being raped, etc. I don't see you going to every other thread, posting "Why?", so something about my post or rather ME inspired you to question my motives for posting.

The difference between crimes against women that are commited by Christians vs Muslims (in Islamic countries) is that the Christians are going AGAINST their religion and the Christian would be tried and punished. In Islamic countries, a woman without a hibjab can be raped by any men who find her and that's legal. That's what you are defending. I didn't want anyone to watch the video, without realizing what they were going to be watching. Trying to avoid offending anyone, you see. If you had watched the video, you would understand that and you would also have known about the title.

Attacking the messenger is a tactic used when you oppose the message, but have no valid arguments against the message.

If I am a Christian or not is not for you to decide.

Incase you didn't realize this, YouTube doesn't produce videos, they host them. So judging the content of the video by the company that does the hosting is quite silly. You tube will host any video that doesn't violate their terms of content.

I took it as given that something would be taken out of context and used in a less than 100% honest manner, because just about every edited video of any kind I've ever seen has those qualities, regardless of the editors intentions. Add in the (presumed) cultural and religious divide between producer and subject matter - how could one expect 'objectivity'? But we can still learn, carefully, from biased sources - we must, or we close our ears to everyone.

I'm sure you know that YouTube is a videa hosting site available to almost anyone on the net. No one is claiming the videos must meet any kind of standard, we all know that any kind of trash (or any gem!) might be found there.

Your criticism of a video because it is hosted by youtube makes no sense to me.

Since you all seem to dense to think or even be bothered to watch the video, let me break it down for you. It doesn't matter what the religion of the person is, RAPE IS WRONG. Islam is called the religion of peace and I'm not doubting that, but who can deny that several sects of Islam teach horrific things? I can openly condemn the Christians who are white supremicists. I can openly condemn the Christians who teach that all homosexuals go to hell. WHY IS IT WRONG TO CONDEMN PEOPLE WHO DO THOSE TERRIBLE THINGS!!
