I am not an intellectual snob and I don't like judging other people. I don't have perfect spelling and grammar too. Sometimes there's language barrier, others couldn't express themselves correctly in english. What's important is the content of the message that I could decipher what he or she's trying to convey.

<raises her hand timidly>....yes, I judge.....I'm not proud of it and try not to, but yes, yes I do. I don't expect perfection (and no, I'm not perfect either....upsetting as this news is to some of you ), but there is sooooooo much laziness with chatting and texting these days that it simply gets annoying sometimes. I am sayin that I am not perfect......yes, yes it's uncomprehensible I know if it's a language barrier issue then I understand and try to figure out what is meant.. if however, it is someone who is my age and mentally competent or at least would have an IQ score in the normal range then I tend to get a bit peeved if they do not have at least a base level of ability to speak or write their native tongue I am not saying he or she has to be a Rhodes Scholar ^^^^yes, I agree. |

No. I have better or worse things to worry about. However, if it's on an application form, I guess it requires spell check. -shrug-

Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare were frequently accused of using bad grammar by the so called grammar police.
If those illustrious writers made mistakes what chance have us mere mortals got. |

Well, what you expect when you have to write stuff like: thou, thy, hath, doth, saith, neere, tymes, and lordy knows what else! That suddenly makes me think of Gene Hunt. Maybe I'll watch Ashes to Ashes again. I liked Gene Hunt |

come on now fess up.. if you read a profile with spelling errors or bad grammar do you automatically judge? if you read someone's response to a thread and it has obvious flaws in it.. do you make assumptions about the author? are you like a cat with a mouse and like to play with your victim for a bit or do ya just ^^^this I dont mind. As long as I understand what he/she means. |

to an extent I know I make many errors in here, mostly typos (big fingers don't help when using a phone keyboard lol)
But I do find I tend to wonder about some people's so called education when using the entirely wrong words. If someone is supposedly a nativee English speaker and has a Bachelor's, Master's or even a doctorate and they are using weather instead of whether or attention instead of intention I do find find myself thinking that the Degree is not real. Yes I know my punctuation is atrocious, but honestly it's less keys to hit on my phone so I don't tend to use it as I shound |

Accusing people you don't even know of being snobs, is a very snobbish thing to do. The only difference between an anti-intellectual snob, and an intellectual snob, is that the intellectual snob will treat you with disdain, while the anti-intellectual snob will call you snotty immature names, and get the tense wrong. |
