Talking with a friend about ice cream. Was wondering if it is tied to any memories you might have.
Can remember going to Ice Cream Social. Never was able to sample all of them. But had fun visiting with friends and sharing. Wonderful way to spend a summer's evening. |

I have many memories of ice cream
For example peach ice cream takes me back to a child taking my turn at the old fashion hand crank. My great Grandmother made the best homemade Peach ice cream in the world nothing comes close. Many of a child"s problems were solved over a bowl of ice cream in my household when my kids were young. In my 20's and 30's and 40's if I was dating someone and really didn't have a lot invested in into the relationship I would grab a pint of ice cream eat the ice cream watching Life time's boo hoo Men did my wrong movies eating the ice cream cussing the man. Get up the next day and go to the gym and sweat him and the ice cream out. Some of the easiest and most fun on dates was a waffle cone walking hand in hand.. Tonight ice cream is so good had to have some and couldn't make up my mind ended up with a couple of kinds.. Gotta love Ice cream kind of like bacon needs it's own food group |

As a kid, I remember the ice cream truck driving around the neighborhood selling ice cream every summer. It was Good Humor ice cream truck and played the same song over and over. I still remember some of my favorites I would buy.

As a kid, I remember the ice cream truck driving around the neighborhood selling ice cream every summer. It was Good Humor ice cream truck and played the same song over and over. I still remember some of my favorites I would buy. The one that drove up and down our street was Mr. Freeze. Specialty was a twisted cone of chocolate and vanilla. |

memories of ice cream
lots when we were kids my mom would help us make juice or kool aid popsicles. we were so impatient we often only let them get slushy and ate them with a spoon. ice cream is also our special celebration treat with the kids. so there are happy things associated with ice cream. like my niece getting first place in the spelling bee. or my nephew doing great on his first day of kindergarten. |

I really like the pushups with the piece of gum at the bottom off the ice cream trucks, and I like vanilla with caramel syrup on top.

grandparents lived in a small up north rural village
so small it didn't even get a black dot on a map you had to know how to get there to know if existed we would go up there as kids each summer to help grandma and grandpa with the garden, mow the lawn, paint anything that needed painting, help grandma with her yard sale, go strawberry picking..anyhow sometimes in the evening grandpa would say " well, let's all go for a ride" so we would pile in the car and off we would go down dirt roads and all around the county and we would sit in back seat and listen to the grown ups talk about yesteryear and about how much things had changed and point out things that were new and talk about how things used to be stories about my great grandparents, about when they bought the land, what they grew on it, the fire that came and wiped out the barn and the house, about how grandpa decided as a farmer he wanted to be the guy that trucked everything to market instead of guy growing it so he began his own trucking business with a 8th grade education if we were good kids, polite, did not interrupt but were very patient then grandpa always ended the drive around by saying " well I expect it's about time we get these children some ice cream" |

Homemade ice cream when I was a kid. Had an old hand cranked ice cream maker and since I was the littlest, I was always duped into doing all the cranking.
One summer day, the 'ol man showed up with a brand new electrified one. I was like: |

When my ex was a child, the ocean was the entertainment.
So the family would haul to the closest beach and enjoy the water. My ex saw his dad sneak off and buy an ice cream cone and attempt to eat it out of sight. The child was infuriated! It was hot and he wanted ice cream too! So he screamed at his dad for eating that ice cream cone alone. His dad said, "Okay son, if you can swim out to that patch of kelp out there and back, I will get you an ice cream cone." My ex eyed the distance, pretty far for a 6 year old. But ice cream and a 6 year old...he went for it. He made it out to the kelp bed and turned on his back to rest before attempting to swim back to shore. The kelp caught at his legs and began to pull him under. He hollered as loud as he could "Help, Help" and people looked out at him and waved. They though he was yelling "Kelp, kelp." (He made it back.) His dad welshed on the ice cream promise. End of ice cream story :-) |
