Did I ever care how other people see me? No, I only cared about the opinion of people I love. Don't really give a damn what others thought.

Honestly the older I get I could care less how anyone sees me.. even family...I do what I want to and when I want to.. my family and friends just look at me and shake their heads and say there she goes again... No telling what she will say or do..

ahhhh when I was a little girl I cared very much what others thought of me or if they liked me
I was a people pleaser..get my grandpa a cup of coffee so he did not have to get up from reading the paper do as I was told got good grades..colored inside the lines teachers always said what a nice, polite child she is when I was married..I took my vows seriously tried very hard to be good wife and mother cared what the family thought of me cared what my husband thought of me what my children thought..of their mother is she a good person, decent human being.. often times in the course of that 20 year union I kept my mouth shut in order to keep the peace now at 46? I think I have reached that point in life where I am old enough..have put up with enough or no longer care enough what people think perhaps I now say what I want and let chips fall where they may |

Do you know or ever wonder how other people see you in their eyes?
Of course. The problem that can arise from doing it is obsessing over how they see you, worrying about how they see you, and/or trying to control how they see you. Otherwise I think it's good to do it, to wonder how other people see you. It offers another perspective. I/you/we focus on different things. Like men and women when asked "what's the first thing you notice about a person?" Some say eyes, some say smile, some say face, some say shoes, some say body. All of that leads to the next thing they focus on, then the next, then the next, and all of that information leads to a conclusion and judgment based on the processing of that information. Figuring out how someone else sees you tells you that which they find important, what they focus on, how they process that information, how they make conclusions, what judgments they make. That's extremely important information. Especially how it effects communication. It's good to wonder how others see you as long as you find it more important as information about them, rather than you. Even though, sometimes it's good to get feedback about yourself. That's how you find out things like your hygiene standards have slipped, or you need to remember to buy new clothes, or do laundry, or go outside for vitamin D, or you're changing in a possibly unhealthy way, or unconscious habits that you thought you stopped doing and wanted to stop doing but just started doing again without realizing. The opinions of others is extremely important. The only time it becomes harmful is when it's feared. That leads people to either obsess over it or pretend it doesn't matter at all. The bad news is that it's crap when it comes to online. Like forums. It's too controlled and edited an environment. I mean i am NOTa pretty boy...i'm the dude that will knock your teeth out if messed with
Online, how can that be proven to be consistently true? It's an empty statement without meaning or purpose when just typed. For all I know you are a one armed woman that went to prison framed by the yakuza and aryans for sexually molesting chevy cavaliers and you need to promote a tough persona in order to earn cigarettes to barter for a secret treasure map of 10 gallons of toilet wine hidden in the laundry. Your statement is just as true as mine, online. |

I usually think to myself that if I treat people with respect, they'll see how nice I was, by the time die. Hopefully.

I care very much what my family and close friends think of me.. very much as they love and respect me.
And I care how the people I work with in my industry perceive me to be as that is my reputation at stake, which took a life time to build. I really don't care what most others think. And yes, Romeo I agree with you, a comment of " pretty boy" would be met with a very fast reply.. Lol |

I'd like the freedom of not caring how people see me but in the family I grew up in that's not possible. How people see me and think about me reflects on more than just me, it reflects on my family and friends. So for the time being I'm going to keep myself looking pretty and saying witty things to hold up my reputation and the reputation of those close to me.
