Not every woman has mood swings or hot flashes, problems etc. when going through menopause. Many just go through it without a problem.
Trade her in for a younger model?
Dang, can I raise the issue, please pretty please ... * jumps up and down enthusiastically * Men often do this 'trading in' when they're going through andropause (male menopause). Maybe women these days do the same thing, since there's so much talk about cougars. Which could be explained by this picture, issue I've raised a number of times. The topic you guys loved so much, yes, I love being popular, lol. And as you can see, the graph proves the point I always made; it starts at 40. Erectile Dysfunction Graph So instead of slating each other, maybe we should just accept the other as we grow older? Although looking at that graph, I do have second thoughts about that *scratches head* Hope I haven't opened another can of worms. |

How many times do I have to tell you that there's nothing wrong with my tallywacker and it works just fine?
I could NO U by saying that middle aged women that I've been with have been unfit though. |

Since I am post menopausal, can I add my 2 cents without sounding defensive? ...All it really takes is a good gynecologist, a mild hormone replacement for two to five years, and a voracious lover ...Menopause signals the arrival of another beautiful stage in a woman's reproductive life cycle...It means she is free to live and love on her terms!...It signals the end of fertility and the beginning of unrestrained passion without fear of pregnancy, without bothersome menstruation, without the need for chemical birth control...Men and women alike should not only welcome this transition, they should anticipate it....

Yeah, that's all very well Leigh but there's a difference between having a long standing established relationship with a woman that's about to go through that and walking into a relationship like that.

I agree. Because my mother and grandmother both had hysterectomies at young ages, I had no idea what to anticipate, genetically-speaking. I opted to handle it naturally, without HRT (or A voracious lover). Aside from an occasional hot flash, I made it through just fine. Oddly, my mother, who still uses a mild dosage of HRT (for her bones, mostly), still experiences them at 80. Generally speaking, I believe the *problems* most often experienced with menopause (and andropause) have more to with how the individual views the inevitable biological changes humans experience...as well as how those around us view them, as demonstrated by many of the responses in this thread. |

Very well stated. Now all I need to find within in the next 20 years is a voracious lover |

Yeah, a menapausal woman will often go looking for a voracious lover and I've been that guy. Kind of looking for more than being a mad woman that's going through a phase's **** buddy at this point though.

I was just having a bit of fun, and I wasn't aiming for you personally, Tawt, so please don't take it personal! I take your word for your tallywacker (tallywacker?? LOL) working fine, cos A your a Scot and they got temperament and B you're a Scorpio, usually very fiery ppl as well. In spite of not aiming at you, I knew you were going to put your foot in it @ Leigh, very well put! |

Kind of looking for more than being a mad woman that's going through a phase's **** buddy at this point though. This may hold true for some, however I seek more than that. I want the connection and the relationship which gives some of the most amazing gifts life has to offer. Funny how the change actually affects both men and women and equally different for both sexes. Some have behavioral changes and physical changes while others have the physical change with some emotional changes but not really any behavior changes. |

Hey ladies, Mrid, Lars, BNJ, Crystal...You are all such beautiful broads!! Thank you, Leigh, you're pretty wonderful yourself! As for menopause, I'm quite curious how it's going to be for me. Can't look to my mum for reference as she'd had surgery before she hit menopause. It hit her then, but unnaturally due to the hysterectomy. So for me it's just wait and see. To be honest, I don't expect any problems really. Gut instinct. If my memory serves me well, I think I've once read that many women that do suffer a great deal, often have problems like "empty nest syndrome" and the likes. I don't have that at all, I feel good, empowered, happy with me, myself and I. That article also mentioned that Asian & African woman don't have menopause? Cos they have a different diet and their bodies are somewhat different. From what I understood it's sort of a 'white woman's' thing, esp the ones that don't feel entirely good about themselves/life. But that's hearsay, lol. Can't speak for myself, yet. |
