Topic: Love or Practicality | |
---|---|
Marry for love or marry because someone is the most practical mate, with the idea that if you choose the most practical you will fall in love anyway.
I know on the surface people all want to say marry for love, but not everyone feels that way. I have a couple friends who are adamant that you have to choose a mate for her character and qualities. Remember that for hundreds of years, longer even, parents chose a wife and a husband for their children, and they were not choosing for looks and love, they were choosing for practicality with a whole lot of considerations on the best union. I think I like a little of a mix between the two. Where do you fit in with this sort of decision? |

Pair-REE??? I thought you all were going to Hawaii??? Vive le yoplait! |

Im a mix. I wouldnt want to fall for someone that didnt love me though. I would want to marry for love most of all or else i just dont think that it would work.
Practicality can be a factor but that gets old also. I think if you did that then you would eventually fall in love with someone else. that is my opinion though |

Love has NO BOUNDRIES....if YOU feel and share the sensations and feelings of LOVE, together,,,then NOTHING will stop you BOTH from KEEPING IT.
No matter if your a priest and she's a nun,,,,LOVE WILL CHANGE ANYONE to make IT WORK!!! They would NOT be in GOD'S eyes again,,,but THIS HAS HAPPEN,,because of FEELINGS,,,,and the mighty LOVE... |

No I'm going to Hawaii myself, since you and Gypsy will be in Paris.

I fall in love with the person FOR the characteristic they exibit. So I guess in my mind it is the same thing.

I thought gyps left me for you! I must have missed something. Can't we all just get along?? ------ I will think about this and post a "real" answer later. Man, this work day is dragging!!! |

You still owe me an answer about books.

Both. For me, it can be done. I married twice; the first time, for love. The second, for practical reasons. Neither one lasted (obviously!) HA! but they were good in their own different ways while they did last. I'm all for companionship/partnership/frienship, and if you can feel really comfortable and fond of the person, that's the best bet, I think. Romance will always ebb and flow, which is normal, and I can take it, but most can't, I'm finding....
Good question. |

Books, schmooks! I know. I forgot. Both answer tonight - promise! NOW GIMME ALL YOUR MONEY!! |

i married for money, till i found out she had none.!!! lol

I can't give you all my money, you'll go spend it all on Gypsy in Paris. Probably won't even tell her its my money.
We don't need your money. Didn't we already establish how independently wealthy are? You'll probably end up mooching off of us if we let you come with us to Pair-ree!! Ok, people! FOCUS! Now about love and practicality... |
I feel better already.
I'm for practical, but if there is no spark, its not practical. |
I think IF you get both then you have it made!! I married for love and trust me...it didn't get me anywhere!! IF I ever get married again...its going to be for different reasons!!
I think if you marry for practical reasons, you are better off. I think you would eventually fall in love with that person anyways. I think when you marry for love...you go into the situation half blind and stupid!!! |
