I met a guy on here who was local, but also claimed to be an attorney and social worker. He was a total con artist. He constantly asked for money and tried to bully me when I refused. He also vandalized my car, now I have to take him to court. Beware, it's not just foreigners it can be anyone.

Those are the spammers who are putting up fake pictures (some really handsome (men) and beautiful (women) who are from another country but they say they are in for instance Los Angeles. Then they try to get your email address so they can tell you they're already in love with you and in the end wind up trying to "beg for money due to some emergency which has come up in their lives unexpectedly", which goes right into their pocket. Do not give them your email address if you want to play it safe. By the way, these people never and I mean never will want to meet you in person, cause they're fakes!

I have never been tempted to send money to any stranger.
Done many blocks and reports. |

Anyone else here had someone message them to ask for their email address, but found it a bit fishy? Just had one where someone claiming to be from a certain country, when going from their grammer and style of writing, were blatantly from somewhere else. Its not just someone that cant spell very well, trust me. Seems a bit dodgy they ask for your email address and give you a life story which is realy hard to believe.... Never give your email to anyone who messages you. Especially when the profile looks fake, meaning few to no pics and little to no info. It's a known scam. I'd recommend blocking and possibly reporting such users. Unless you know the person, do not give out such personal info. |

I've had one claiming to be from Ireland and the other from England, but he happened to live in Switzerland. Both looked Mediterranean, as in Italian, Spanish, French or something like that.
Good thing their English gave them away. Also not the real obvious things like silly spelling mistakes. But as an English teacher I know the type of mistakes non-native-speakers tend to make. As for emails, I don't use my regular email, but a gmail account and I don't have that registered to my own name. (Some do and then you can do a nice FB search, hahaha) |

(Some do and then you can do a nice FB search, hahaha) I've been told that if you receive an attachment (pic) in an email, no matter whether you use a regular email account or one you created to correspond with people off-site, and you open it there may be a file attached to link your pc to theirs. Remember the hacker is looking for people to victimize. All sorts of ways to become a victim, so beware and careful. We live in a world that is ever changing and the rules are also changing. |

I have an email address i made just for this, with its own password. Im a bit wary of net fraudsters. Lets just say the person in question gave me a life story of being stuck in another country, having had their money swindled by and ex, and making statements like 'yes im from American' Alarm bells? Thats more like a bomb going off in a broom cupboard it's a fairly well known online scam....run away & don;t look back |

Live and learn, I always say. Oh, I'm wonderful so I can obviously be trusted. But the majority of those other guys... |

Hi all.
I just want to thank you all for this post and your comments! It is a whole new world out there and yes the rules have changed! Your descriptions of what they say are helpful. I find many simply want me to give them any outside e-mail, hotmail, g-mail, facebook. Even after I tell them they can contact me here and that I don't give out any personal e-mail info, they still continue as if I haven't said a word!!! Isn't that just weird? They haven't really done nor said anything that I could truly report, but I'm not willing to go off site to find out! |

That sucks. That chit just ain't right. You be careful. Thanks, I've met most his family and they have been very supportive to me through all this. His profile says San Diego, but he no longer lives there. If you get any flattering messages from affluent San Diego men, let me know and I can confirm or deny the user . He still active here and checks my profile from time to time. Continues to call me from a restricted number. |

If he persists, you should call the cops on him. |
