Do You Know What It's Like
*********************************** Do you know what it’s like To completely sacrifice your life For another To always put their needs and wants first Even when it hurts You ~ Do you know what it’s like When another uses your giving nature to their advantage And all they do is take, take, take, and still take While telling you that you’re the one They really hate ~ Do you know what it’s like To want to escape ~ From love ~ Do you know what it’s like To live in fear for your life From another who creates strife Wielding anger like a knife Cutting so deep You barely survive Each time ~ And you can’t believe you’re still alive ~ Do you know what it’s like? ![]() ![]() |

Chances Are
**************** Chances are ~ The hardest part Is learning to share ~ When we deeply care It’s easy to be scared Of losing ~ To lose ones self In someone else Leaves us feeling Vulnerable ~ To lose someone else And finding our self alone Leaves us feeling Undesirable ~ Chances are ~ We may have scars Faded Yet still clearly visible ~ And they may be critical In whether we appear literal When dating ~ So often our communicating Keeps us waiting Ever engaging Anticipating ~ Who makes the first move Will we groove Can we meet soon ~ What step do we take next ~ Chances are ~ Right from the start Infatuation Will have us in its grip ~ We’ll be deftly taking risks Our feelings can’t resist As our minds meld our bodies In lust ~ Instinctively we want to rush Never getting enough of Our underlying need for Love ~ So whatever path we take The decisions that we make Together ~ Will originate in our hearts And that’s the easiest part ~ Chances are ![]() ![]() |

Chasing the Moon
************************* Chasing the moon Following its light The shadows cast Surround fanciful flights While running ahead We still look behind The best of both worlds Is tantalizing our minds Can we have it all Dividing our loyalty Or will we lose out To a war of inequity With every nuance felt In attempts to control There’s no way to hide Others intent taking hold Now eyes are wide open The future is here to see And as I contemplate life It bares all its complexity But no matter the path We’ll take it in stride Enjoying the adventure It’s one hell of a ride Chasing the moon Basking in its light It’s a perfect way For lovers to ignite ![]() ![]() |

The writing for "Flirting On A Curve" flows smoothly I think. ![]() I think you captured and clearly conveyed a truth about dating sties. Your last lines are sad. Say it isn't so. ![]() ![]() ![]() Okay, Richard, you asked for it.... ![]() We’re all imperfect people sifting through all the different types of personalities trying to find just one special person we can truly relate too, and hopefully connect with to form a personal relationship, or simply a friendship. And as we regulars and long term members know, that communicate with one another publicly on the forums, there are leaders and there are followers in cliques of those who have been accepted, and there are also those who are rejected, given the cold shoulder. In my poem, “Flirting on a Curve”, I try to show the various levels of communication that goes on, even when unspoken, between members who have communicated off boards due to personal interest, and then seek each others company on boards even if they don’t communicate directly with each other. This is a public display of unity, and gives people the opportunity to flirt indirectly, either by praising their posted work, or by quoting each other and rubbing shoulders while still maintaining an air of indifference otherwise on the boards. It’s the subtleties and inferences that can be seen and/or interpreted that allows a birds eye view into a more intimate form of flirting between people who may have a crush, and are checking each other out, or who just want to be seen mingling together. And likewise, when a member has been rejected by a leader, all others in their clique will show public unity by rejecting, or giving other members the cold shoulder, silent treatment. When this happens, the ousted member may choose to leave the site and seek inclusion at other dating sites where their style of communicating is more readily accepted, or they may go offline indefinitely, only to reappear months or years later, to try their hand again to connect. I can only assume that you weren’t expecting this kind of lengthy and detailed response to your invitation to speak more clearly on the “cold chill” factor, but, public rejection is a particular interest of mine, and I study it in depth to help educate myself and others on the finer points. So, thank you Sweetheart, for allowing me the indulgence… ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Life Altering Decisions
********************************* An effort in futility Is what it seems To me ~ Hearing the words “I Love You” While actions speak Differently ~ Why are we So Careless ~ With hearts That aren’t Our own ~ Are we Just afraid To step outside Our Comfort zone ~ Or Maybe We’re just selfish And Want everything Our way ~ But At what High a price To Happiness Are we Ready And Willing To pay ~ Whether We Win Or Whether We Lose ~ Each of us Has to choose ~ Will it be him? ~ Will it be her? ~ Or ~ Will it be them? ~ Because ~ Our Life altering Decisions Will determine WHO We are with In the end ![]() ![]() |

A scary and exciting part of love is finding release from selfish desire and personal agendas. Maybe it's also the best part of love.
