Hello All
Why, whenever you ask someone if they fancy a chat on Skype, is it assumed that you mean for cyber sex.

Doesn't anyone just have 'normal' chats on there.
I must have led a very sheltered life.

I'm just surprised that's all

I always have "normal" conversations. You can tell their maturity level or how they've been treated by what they think.

I enjoy my chats and would not do anything to risk losing them.

It all depends if your trying to get them to Skype right of the bat or not. Most that try to get one off the site quick turn out to be scammers.

Then you have your guys that want to show ya pictures duhh we have pictures here their only reason is the nudes...showing their junk like they got it all...slaphead slaphead

Maturity level does not have a darn thing to do with it!!noway noway Well unless we are talking about the one trying to get them off the sitebigsmile

It is a safety reason at times. The site provides e-mail and IM so yeah it does make one a bit leary of those trying to get you off the site........

Give it some time in e-mails and if you live close then meet them in a public place..

I use skype for phone conversations. Don't have many going on, but I enjoy hearing their voice(s). Plus the spontaneity is great.

If you're asking random women to chat on Skype, I can see why they might assume the worst. Try chatting a bit via email first and go from there.

I've hardly asked anyone but it's just the few replies I've had make me wonder

Perhaps it's the whole video chat idea that is turning women off? Next time just suggest a phone call.

It's against most sites TOS, and I think this ones as well to lead users away from the website for contacting them. Unless you have been chatting on a site for a while, there is no need to leave the site. Perhaps you're inviting them to Skype too early on? IDK, but you should communicate on site for a while before moving on to Skype, text, or phone calling. That gives you both time to get to know each other a little better before moving on to the next thing.

Uhh, not every next thing is personal....sometimes calls off site are just to friends.

But, giving out phone numbers, IM IDs, etc. is personal information and if given to the wrong person could be used maliciously. It's just a good idea to know who your friends are before giving too much info. is all.

Not that you have to be paranoid, but don't think that it's harmless to give out contact info. to just anyone either.

I personally don't go much further than here unless it is someone who has been on the forums as much or more than I have. This communication system works good.

A phone call is definitely more personal than chatting here whether you're friends or more.

Skype is very much like video communications from Star Trek....

and yes, the potential for "cool" is there....but, there is a reason it ain't ever gonna be a smash hit.

Bad hair days

....on Star Trek...no one has a bad hair day, or a giant pimple, or kids screaming in the back ground or the house looking like a disaster.

I have Skyped twice.....yeah, it was pretty cool.

Then I read an article on "Wired Magazine" about how easy it is for someone to activate your webcam without your knowledge....

I unplugged my web cam and will never plug it in again....hence...no more Skype for me.
