Topic: Luxury Vs. Freedom | |
---|---|
What lifestyle would you choose a luxurious lifestyle, or one free of possessions and other things?
I've never been financially wealthy. I mean, I have always been blessed with the essentials, and a little more (for the most part), even in hard times. I recently had to down grade my bed from a queen to a twin. I loved my queen, it was the biggest and most comfortable bed I ever had. I put my new bed together and put where my old one was. I saw how small it was compared to the old one. What surprised me was that I instantly felt freed, not saddened. I was then reminded of a conversation in another thread where one shared a story about how all their possessions were stolen, and they felt freed. Now, I'm thinking about what lifestyle I am chasing, and what I really want out of life. I'm going to go with a free and simple lifestyle. Not so much luxurious, but enjoyable. What about you? What are your thoughts? |

Luxurious, with the ability to do what I want. I tend to be fairly simplistic with stuff, short of books. But I want to enjoy being able to go somewhere and not have to make sure I have the money.

It's strange that you bring this up. My stuff is coming from Texas. I know it's been gone through and stuff stolen. That is not what I am stressing over. I am stressing over how much is left and where will I put it all. Too much stuff is a physical ball and chain.

I would thrive very well with Wi-Fi and a radio out in a stilt house in the middle of some Louisiana swamp.

I feel I have luxury because I have running water, heat, and air conditioning.
I have cable T.V. and Netflix and the Internet. It don't get much better than that... and I have freedom to do what I want pretty much. As long as it doesn't cost a heap of money. |

Freedom...tis a state of mind is it not? IDK, I suppose it can be, but not always. I'm sure an inmate would have a different view on freedom than an average civilian. Perhaps even a homeless person and a middle class person would see freedom differently? |

I apologise for the loaded question Totage...and it could've meant anything to the reader...but keeping in line with your question... Freedom....because tis more gratifying knowing that i've worked my a$$ off to get the roof over our heads, rather than it being handed to me. Freedom....because i don't give a rats glutes what the Jones's have. (they're probably up mortgage creek without a paddle anyway to get what they want) I will, however, help myself to the luxury of stating what i think |

That's why I posted the topic, to see what others have to say on it, and to share our different views and opinions. I wasn't trying to give a sarcastic response or anything, I was just mentioning that I suppose freedom could mean different things to different people, perhaps our situation/circumstances can have an effect on our perception of freedom also. I'm sorry if it came across a different way. @-- I always enjoy reading what you have to say. :) |

Freedom has a different taste and texture to those who fought for it compared to those who did not. |

I have had an opportunity to be with a millionaire but choose freedom. I came across an old diary where I wrote 'If u cannot live your life according to your principles, you may as well be dead' IMO u can be rich & free & can be poor & free.

Freedom for the most part. I just want enough money to pay my bills and not have to worry about someone knocking on my door saying I owe them something for some breathing tax I have never heard of.
For me personally, a luxurious lifestyle would just tie me to things I probably would not want or care about, and for the most part make me question my place in society even more than I do now. |

I was blessed for 26 years: unconditional love with luxury and freedom to be myself. and let the life-partner be himself.
Freedom = the Best Life= choices |

I would imagine it just depends on what one person considers luxury. I would really enjoy yacht and a Lexus however, I just can't afford such things...so I got a nice dependable Subaru...and as far as the yacht goes...I can enjoy them at the lake.
I still am pretty happy. I have a toilet..so whew! ...I am good to go! (get it?) |
