Topic: Selling a car in record time! | |
---|---|
I need to sell my car within a couple weeks...I checked the blue book value and to me it seems super high for an '04. I don't know though...Anyone looking to buy a car here in Hawaii?
If not..i could use some tips on websites to post my car info on other than craigslist and possibly other avenues to sell quickly. |

Even if it seems high to you, list it at that price and let people haggle down the price. If you list it at a low price to begin with people will try to haggle you down even more.

True...I'm not much of a haggler anyway. I'd just as soon put "NO HAGGLING" on the windshield.

Look at blue book, but consider putting it at about $250.00 higher so you'll have room to come down and they think they are getting a deal. Make sure when you sell to put on the Bill of Sale that it is "SOLD AS IS" though you will probably be required to have it smogged before you can transfer the title. So add that in as well if Hawaii is the same as California.

Smogged? Whats that?

Smogged or DEQ, some states you have to have your car's emissions tested.

It only has to be done once right? I initially bought my car from a dealership so i'd assume its good to go? I only had it for a little over a year...

Every two years here in California, they make us re-smog, make sure the pollutants from your engine, exhaust are not too high. When I register the vehicle every other year I have do this. Check it out for Hawaii.

Wow..never heard that. I'll most certainly check that out. I know we have to keep current safety checks here but no one has ever said anything about that. I'll look into it...hope it doesn't take too long if i do have to do that cause i really need to sell within a couple weeks.

Doesn't 7000 seem a bit high for an '04 though...or is that just me?
|

Actually, according to the DMV, smogging isn't required in Hawaii
Thus, at this point in time there are no set emissions standards for vehicles in Hawaii So for now, you need to only get a safety inspection to register your car―you can skip the emissions test. http://www.dmv.org/hi-hawaii/smog-check.php As far as price, it also depends on the condition of your car. Good, fair, poor, etc |

I made sure to be as accurate as possible about the condition and how its equipped it still suggested about 7000. Just seems crazy to me since its damn near 10 years old.

what is the make and model of the car?
But hey...if you can get that...GREAT. If not then it gives you wiggle room |
|

2004 Nissan Sentra...
I could also be skeptical cause i hate that car...I'm just afraid that its giving an unreasonable price..especially for a Sentra. I mean they're nothing special. Although it hasn't failed...has gotten me from point A to point B. |

There are some things I don't know about the car to be 100% accurate. Most private parties sell cars at good condition (especially one almost 10 years old) because good condition seems to be a safe bet
But this is what I found on Kelley Blue Book Excellent $5,205 Very Good $4,905 Good $4,730 Fair $3,980 http://www.kbb.com/used-cars/ |
|

|
Its the one above a regular Sentra...the 1.8 or something like that...they said about 7000 for excellent which it isn't but still seems high to me...i was going based off the good/fair which was about 6 something. I think the price is so high also cause i live here in Hawaii...i'm not really sure why that'd matter but apparently it does.
|
|
|

yeah I think the ones I pulled were a regular Sentra. I (personally) would go off of the good or fair price.
You never know...some cars are just valued higher than others. If you can get the amount, then that is a bonus |

-fingers crossed
