I am not doing a poll and the majority here makes no difference to the validity of the poll. There are threads in the political forums that prove this poll correct at many levels. That validates the poll. No matter who votes against it, it is still validated on this site. I wouldnt not consider people that come to this site an accurate representation of anything but the people on this site. I can't say I have an accurate representation of African American women because Msharmony posts on this site. nothing but love Msharmony just trying to get a point across i hope you don't take offense) There are about 1-2 dozen or so people that make up the political forum for the most part. You actually think those are enough numbers to represent any demographic? Not to mention the type of people who post in forums tend to be a little different than average America. No offense taken, I am one african american woman, and Id agree that knowing me doesnt mean you can speak to what 'all' african american women are like or what they believe, anymore than I could claim to know what all white males are like or what they believe. I agree, we represent ourselves on this thread, and Id say that is usually a class unto itself...lol |

I hate the way Rihanna is allowed to influence young children. I feel sick to my stomach if i see a child singing that 'S&M' song. I have two very young sisters, so i just get really worried for them. And Lady Gaga ain't a good influence for kids neither. Shouldn't these types only be on tv after 9pm? Don't want my sisters turning like them. ![]() Im not real ecstatic about those influences either but the way to combat them is to EXPOSE kids to a balance of other things, better ways, and be an EXAMPLE of those things and those ways,,,, They are exposed to WAY TOO MUCH WAY TOO SOON nowadays. For the most part, in the digital age, its harder to keep watch over what kids see and hear and society at large doesnt seem to consider much of anything serious if it isnt immediately 'physically' harmful. So all we can do is give good examples in our own homes, reinforce postiive behavior, and discourage the rest. And try to give kids ACTIVITIES and INTERESTS That will keep them too busy to really be obsessing over modern 'entertainment'. OH, and keep them reading and writing and doing math,, I believe this is going to be the EDGE that divides us in the future the way money divides us now. Believe it or not, those skills are truly declining now that we have computers to do most things for us. |

The original post concerned a joke website. This is something from the Christian Science Monitor a couple of years ago.

See how you measure up. (This was from right after the stock market crash). |
