What do you expect from profiles?

Before contacting someone, do you look at their profile? Do you read, or at least skim over it? Do you only look at pictures? If you have questions for someone new you're chatting with, do you look at the profile to see if any of them are answered already?

When writing your profile, what do you add?

When writing your profile, what do you add?

I expect to find out

1. What they look like.
2. What their interests are.
3. Something about their values and goals.

I have never initiated contact(old fashioned that way). Because there are so many profiles, I narrow them down by picture first(those I Find attractive) and THEN I read their interests to get an idea of what drives them and decide if we have compatible lives. THEN I read or skim their information to get an idea of how their 'mind' works and how they communicate and whether THAT Is compatible to my style. By the time I talk to someone , I have read their profile.

In my profile, I try to include those same things I look for when reading others.

I expect that anyone who has to tell you
how wonderful they are, probabaly isn't.
But the profile can give you insight into
what THEY think is important.

No humor..no readie.
And I don't recall my own.

just please don't tell how attractive you are. I'll decide that for myself.

Yes, I think it’s important to look at profiles before asking questions. If I’m really interested in him I don’t want to look like a fool. If I’m not interested I won’t read their profile or ask them questions.

If his picture speaks to me, I look at his profile but I might not finish reading it when:

1) people make references to sex (example: enjoy sex, must have sex etc.)
2) references to how often he goes to the gym (why do i need to know that?)
3) has other photos where he shows off his torso or pics with other women he dates
4) says things like “hello ladies” or “looking for fun”

I look through a lot of profiles. If it says nothing, or has one line, I usually pass it by. If it's completely full if mistakes, or one long run on sentence that's tough to read, I don't usually finish reading it.

I like seeing something about the person that gives me an idea of who they are and what they enjoy doing. The profile has to say something that catches my interest in order for me to contact the person.

I put the basics in my profile and try to cover the questions that men ask over and over and over. The point of that is so I don't have to repeat myself every time someone contacts me. Of course, since most people don't bother reading it, they still end up asking the same questions. I let them know they should read my profile and if they have more questions to let me know. Sometimes, they tell me they're just checking up on what I've written, or they just don't want to read my profile. It's a good way to weed out the people I won't have any interest in chatting with.

"It's a good way to weed out the people." Very true and that's why I'm not eager to let people know exactly what I like or dislike in case he wants to pretend to be someone else to impress me or something.

Looking at profiles is time wasted.

Anyone can write anything or post any picture.

I stick with the forums. Eventually even the ones who think they are good, slip up and I get to see them for who they REALLY are.

That's all good for those who participate in the forums. However, many emails I get are from people who are not in the forums. And any locals (not that there are many active ones) are not in the forums. So, that doesn't work for everyone.

But you are correct in that those in the forums do show what they're really like eventually.

Why the hell would you answer e-mails from completely random total strangers?
