Not sure how food stamps are done there, but I know people on them here. They are given a debit card and a specific amount is put on the card monthly. You can use it for anything that except debit cards.

I don't look down on anyone because they are addicts or rich/poor, but the tax payers shouldn't support people without drug testing. They are (in a sense) employees of tax payers. Just like business might do drug testings. Why should this be any different?
Employees of tax payers? Are you serious? We are citizens of the United States. If you feel the need to live in a caste system.....move to India. Oh....England is good too. They judge people by class too. Oh....wait.....they have the dole system there...... Just cuz' I'm poor shouldn't make me "suspicious"....or "suspect". I live a good life. I am a good person.

So.....you claim that you are my boss? Am I fired? I mean......get real........

I think I will get really stoned and walk over to the Kroger. I will be buying a T-bone steak and crab legs on food stamps. God Bless America.........smokin

make sure you budget like everyone else though, because once your monthly is up, its up , so I wouldnt buy too many of those steaks or crab legs too soon after receiving those stamps,,,

where is the money for these things coming from??? This is different than unemployment or disability because those funds come from a person's past paychecks.

I'm not moving anywhere. No one said just because someone is poor then they must be on drugs. No one said they aren't good people. They are getting funds from the government, so yes the tax payers should have a voice in it.

I am entitled to my opinion just like everyone else!!!!!!

Being poor does not equate to being lazy, or stoned, or criminally inclined. I just wish people would wake up......... Someday.....you might find yr self in my shoes. Yea. That's right. Humiliation on humiliation..... That's what it's like..........

no, you can't buy alcohol or tobacco products, or any kind of fast food... but you can get some cash payments on them, and with that it is like a debit card...

I was on welfare when my son was born and I would have been drug tested or whatever else they required.

My sister is disabled (bed ridden) and she would comply.

I never said just because someone is on welfare that they are lazy, stoned or criminally inclined!!!!

It is there to help those in need to get them on their feet again.

You mentioned Charlie Sheen. If the studio said he had to be drug tested and if positive then he has to successfully complete rehab, that is their right.

Where is the accountability whether rich, poor, young or old?

Not everyone that uses drugs is an addict. Some do it "recreationally"

What happens to their kids if they don't want help?

its like that here too

depends upon the assistance you receive , they all go on one card

if you are only eligible for food stamps, food is all the card can be used for, but if you are eligible for monetary assistance, than that is also put on the card as well as a 'cash' option for the cardholder...

Oh no....you just go to the grocery store and use it as a debit card. IF they catch you, then yes you could lose it, but they are so busy that half the time they don't check.

My aunt's "husband" buys beer all the time with it (or he did....haven't spoken to them in a year for many other reasons)

i still do not know what you are saying about rich or poor... rich people do not "use" the government systems for food or help... poor people do... so we should chastise the rich for not using the system?

IM sure each state has differences, but here, its not the cashiers task to 'check' anything

its programmed into the card what can be purchased and what cannot and whatever cannot be purchased will show as a remaining balance once the card is scanned..

it just wont accept the card for items that arent 'approved' as food

My money comes from what I put into the system. I'm lucky that way. Others are not so lucky........ My opinion is obviously different from your's cuz' we have nothing in common....obviously. I am a well educated person. I have intelligence.....I think about a lot of things ....and I have AWESOME talents. BUT......that can all be dis-regarded cuz' people like you wanna' judge me. You have NO idea what I have been through. You don't know me at all. Most people could not survive what I have been through. So.....to just get humiliated more due to the outcome of my circumstance.....bothers me......greatly. Yr not my boss. I AM MY BOSS.........

when i was on the lone star system, you couldn't do it... it would not ring up on the register...but what people do is buy others peoples groceries at have price, then take their cash and use it for beer and drugs...

all the card sees is the amount. It doesn't have a system to say what product is what to reject it.
