I'm not quite sure how to answer this post. Whether to sugar coat it or just come right out & say what I'm really thinking. First thing in the morning doesn't settle well with me at the moment. You have every right to think , feel, speak however you wish & I have that same right. Many have put their lives on the line & died for those rights. Sometimes you have to celebrate ones death to have less deaths to mourn. An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot...burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. Seems there's been more than enough loss of our loved ones to celebrate Osamas death. I'm not exactly dancing in the streets but I'm not mourning either. JMHO |

Lynch mob? Are you saying that dancing in the street to celebrate a mans death who has brought death and destruction to our country a long with other countries a lynch mob? Maybe you should look up what that means in the dictionary. Tell that to the families who have lost loved ones either during the 9/11 attacks or over seas in the desert. I don't think you will ever be able to bring closure to these people. But at least this means all the efforts our people have put forth for this country have not gone in vein. Not only am I dancing. But I'm high fiving and hugging our soldiers who have been over seas and risked their lives for us. And yes...I know this doesn't mean its over. But hell if isn't a step in the right direction. |

I agree with both artlo and J. I don't agree with calling what's happening a lynch mob. OP, did you know anyone who lost their life or was injured on 9/11? Do you have any family or friends who have been deployed overseas because of this man? Do you have any idea of the amount of death and destruction this man has brought to this country? If yes, I'm sure you can understand, at least in some way, why people are reacting the way they are. I live near the Naval Academy and went over there the other night after the President announced that Bin Laden was dead. There was lots of hugging, high fives and tons of emotion going on there that night. It was a pretty awesome sight to see. These guys are training to be part of our military, to be able to defend our country. They put their lives on the line to protect us from people like Bin Laden. I can absolutely see why they were celebrating. I've also had both friends and family who have been deployed overseas for months and years because of this man. I have absolute respect for them and am hoping more troops can come home now. I'm sorry you feel shame for the way people have reacted. |

New York HAS the right to be a lynch mob... The NYPD and FDNY have been leading the pack for years... just so you know hundreds of the first responders who WEREN'T killed on 9/11 are slowly dying off one by one from breathing in the toxic dust on that day... yeah- what do you say to their families? NY has the right to be a lynch mob. |

hmmm.. while i didn't like the dancing in the streets, i think he provided his own trial by his actions and the tapes he would put out on youtube, calling for jihad on america. when your an enemy of the government, calling for the mass murder of our citizens and having the ability and want to do so, i think the trial part is a mute concept. he dug his own grave, we just lowered the coffin.... Except that one small thing. Until there is a trial, it is all just opinion. 'Innocent until proven guilty' was not just a handy catchphrase. It meant something. We lived by it. Until now. you didn't watch any of his tapes? and another thing, how many times has a cop said come with me, or if someone shoots at a cop, does the cop kill him? when your wanted by the police, and you try to fight, you get shot... that is any country, not just the US... he had a choice, to go with the seals or die... he choose death |

Dancing and Lynching are not the same thing, when you get an A on a test at school , do you LYNCH? WTF? I saw with my own eyes that second plane go into that tower and bodies jumping out the windows...(on live tv) and that was enough to make me wanna kill someone---I thought the first crash was an accident but as news covered it in live time---and I realized what was happening. and for him to come outright and claim responsibilty---HELL YEAH THERES A DANCE IN ORDER!!!! Perhaps if he was a rapist and got a hold of your daughter your opinions may differ....(funny how some people remain numb when their inner circle is not affected) We defended our country from future destruction...We have lost a lot of Service men as a result, and they have lost a lot of sanity and limbs for those who have survived....It's time for some repercussions, and apparently HE KNEW It, OR HE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN HIDING> A SO CALLED MARTYR----HIDING and letting everyone else do his dirty work and yet praised as a MARTYR for his country-- BITE ME! Does anyone remember that movie, THREE KINGS with GEORGE CLOONEY! How the arabs poured OIL down their throats while our soldiers tried to help their people get free....Some of you should rent that film, you might learn something. |

Be careful America. The same dance you do now in the streets to celebrate a death, can be the same streets you march down to mourn a death. How different are we than those we condemn? Dancing for Death? Shame Some Americans have not evolved yet into full humans. There is no other excuse. It is a shame on this country. |

I think it's important that we are questioning this "celebration" and engaging in discussions about it.
I had mixed feelings about this killing, which included a sense of relief that Bin Laden was finally found, at least, and admiration for the way the operation went down. The actual killing part - as with any killing - leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. On the other hand I was relieved that none of the children or other innocent people (except perhaps that one woman) were killed. I could go on but my point is that it's not that strange to have mixed feelings. Also I am bothered when people try to characterize what an American is, or what the "American character" is - as if we all have the same personality! Not all Americans think or feel alike. How can we expect everyone in this country to think that this is "justice"? I can see where many people think it is, but even so it's important to not take such actions lightly. Personally, I agree with Tupac, that "Only God can Judge.." |

I for one am glad he is dead, i live near disneyland and LAX, two major attack sights...
I agree only GOD can Judge...but i feel safer now that he is gone. I wont lie... |

I am not ashamed to rejoice when justice is served.

The killing of Bin Laden and capture of Al-Qaida documents put a big dent in an operation aimed at murdering innocent people. We can all take pride in that - the lives we have saved. Had Bin Laden been killed and Al-Qaida plans compromised earlier then we could have potentially avoided the 911 bombings and the attacks in London, Madrid, India and elsewhere - saving many. People are not rejoicing over Bin Laden's death. People are rejoicing for the innocent lives saved. I will toast the innocent people saved by the hobbling of Al-Qaida and their leadership. I WILL toast the sanctity of life and lives saved Harold!! (ABSOLUTELY!!!)......I can't help but stating sadness over the idea of it coming down to method and "math". Simple, but I SO yearn for a gentler "global" society where the "numbers" speak for themselves. I know I am not alone!.....and so it goes.... |
