Marilyn saying to Indiana Jones (after a big shoot out in a cafe in "Raiders of the lost ark")
"well Indy, at least you haven't forgotten how to show a girl a good time!" Indy retorts back, "You're somethin'". |

If someone asked me out, then suggested I pay, even half, I would be laughing my head off. As I walked away. If I asked them, then I would pay. Seems simple. I don't care whether or not they expect sex, let us assume so, it will always be a free choice, yes or no. Whoever pays. The person who invites would typically host/hostess, but the rules have to be flexible...what's that old "made to be broken" expression? |

Well Ive never had a female ask me out most people say I look mean on first glance but you cant judge a book by the cover |

In this day women work and have their own money and my question is for men. Do men expect a woman to have sex with them at the end of a date if he pays for everything? And if so, should women then insist on paying for her own meal and movie (or whatever) and would this end the idea in the man's head that she owes him a blow job or a roll in the hay at the end of the evening? If not, would you, as a man, be insulted or pleased that a woman insists on paying her own way? I have been considering starting dating again, and I would like some opinions. Also, if I got asked on a date, should I get these questions out of the way first by asking the man strait out? I expect to pay for dates. I'm more than willing to pay as well. I haven't come across any issues paying for dates. And by paying for dates, I don't mean the company of a lady, I mean meals and what not. |

Looking at the whole dating and courtship ritual from an outside perspective, the female is looking for a mate who can bring home the bacon and provide for her, so the male would normally pay for the date as a sign that he is ready willing and able to do that.
In reality, what the male wants is to mate, although that does not guarantee that he wants to nest. (Get married.) Normally the female would be looking for a suitable mate to nest with (or marry) so while she is checking him out, he is also checking her out. This mating ritual may not be entirely conscious. In their minds, they are just lonely and wanting companionship. They may not have any specific conscious goal or intentions in mind that are long term. The female that wants to go to bed right away may think that will increase her chances of attracting a permanent mate. The male that wants to go to bed right away may just be wanting sex but not commitment. It could be the other way around so don't start jumping all over me for generalizing. The whole game would be so much simpler if people knew what they actually wanted and why and just said so up front. Things like this: "I just want to get laid." "I am looking for a long term commitment." "I am looking for a suitable mate to raise children with." "I just want to have a good time tonight, no promises about tomorrow." Etc Etc. |

I found that when you know what you want and state it clearly, it tends to intimidate people. Oh well, if they can't handle someone who knows what they want, they're not for me anyway. I'm not playing and games and have no time for those that are.

Where a relationship is concerned, I don't really know what I want. I feel that it is 85% leaning towards.. I don't want one, and can do without one, etc.
10% still dreams of finding the perfect companion. 5% just wants to get laid and have some fun. |

I always let her pay for me - even though I am then *obliged* to
satisfy her sexually during or at the end of the date - I have found that it is a sacrifice which I am able to make. |

When I hear "I don't know what I want", I usually run away. To me, that just means they want to play games. That's just me though. |

It is just in the relationship area I am a bit foggy. I guess that means I'm probably not very accessible or available. |

Or maybe you're just content being single. That's not a bad thing. I'm not sure if I'm more content or just used to being single. lol Seriously though, I would say I'm contnet with it, but it would be nice to have someone to share life with. It's not a necessity or anything for me though.

No if a women offers to pay for anything on a date then to me that means its not going well and she aint into me If I offer to pay on a date it has nothing to do with whether I'm into him or not. |

Though I've never had a date that insisted she pay, I wouldn't take it as a sign that she wasn't into me.
