a Degree matters to a person thats looking for that certain job they want if it requires the deploma but if you are a self employed no it does not matter if it does not require it so its simple depends what type of job you looking for in life some it does matter others it does not so yes and no and also depends if you have the smarts making money without 1:)))))) see alot of people are like robots in life they follow the leader and try to work they way up myself i learn about things on my own and studie and get alot of smarts from that and i look into the facts and reality not what you can have but what you do know and learn and achieve :) as Albert Einstein said ........Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts. Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing. Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits........Einstein on Imagination, Creativity, Knowledge and Information Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Information is not knowledge and yet knowledge is still limited, for knowledge of what is does not open the door directly to what should be. Yes, logic may get you from A to B, but Imagination will take you everywhere. Imagination encircles the world. Imagination is everything. |

I Like this 1:))))))Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value.
Albert Einstein ........If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts. Albert Einstein, ...........If A is success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut. Albert Einstein, .......Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not one bit simpler. Albert Einstein, |

DOES DEGREE OR CERTIFICATION MATTER IN LIFE.. OR MATTERS ! who made their own rules A degree matters if it is necessary to obtain a particular type of job. A degree has less value if it is for a particular type of job that cannot be obtained. The education that you obtain while pursuing a degree can be useful even if you do not obtain a job requiring a degree. [Personal Note: I am the first person in my family to earn a Bachelor Degree, and it took me 22 years to earn it. I have not yet had a job requiring a degree, but I still use the knowledge that I gained while pursuing my degree.] I'M AGREE WITH YOU... I have this philosophy too! I have a BS in Biology that basically got me into graduate school & is otherwise useless to me! I'll have a PhD next year and will definitely use that degree and should have a respectable and enjoyable career with it! My mother is a RN and will make more money than I will after I graduate-go figure! I couldn't do her job though, it's just not me! |

What if I told you insane was working fifty hours a week in some office for fifty years at the end of which they tell you to piss off;ending up in some retirement village hoping to die before suffering the indignity of trying to make it to the toilet on time. Wouldn't you consider that to be insane? You go....Con Air! |

Yeah!that quote def.made me do a double take & contemplate his perspective on the subject at hand.Although the reality is that my trades require College education & certificates. No regrets certainly & by these actions my daughters have also followed suit. It's all good.Godspeed!Cy |

All I know is that once I get a steady job, I'm going to get my BS in well... BS, or... Business. I think that will open some doors for me and allow me to pursue a career instead of just a job. If nothing, else it will make me proud for accomplishing something that I find meaningful.

DOES DEGREE OR CERTIFICATION MATTER IN LIFE.. OR MATTERS ! who made their own rules actually OP this is a very good question. I hear people all the time going back to school for a degree because they are having a hard time getting work, or advancing in their work with just a certification. BUT, it depends on whay kinds of certifications you mean. If you are in the IT/Engineering field it's best to get a degree in something IT related, and then see what certifications your employer requires - or just get the basic ones that aren't too expensive and wait to see from there what the job wants, as the certification tracks in this industry r complicated AND expensive. |

I've often thought about this issue for a while, and I, too, wonder if more years of meaningless education is worth the hassle. While I am all for getting that piece of fancy paper with my university's name on it, I look at it from another perspective: the time I spent stressing out over grades, worrying myself sick to meet deadlines, or cramming knowledge into my brain to the point where I became physically ill, could I have been doing something else?
For example, my major is Radio Broadcasting, and there are numerous ways I can get my voice heard. While many people frown upon the idea of radio, I happen to view it as a way to reach the masses 24/7. Podcasting, Youtube, heck, even broadcasting from your own basement, granted you have the means to do so, can get you noticed, and possibly employed, be it with a company or by the self. Do I knock those individuals who "wasted away" in school? Never. More power to them. Do I salute the "dropouts" who left to pursue other things? Not really. If you have the drive to succeed, and you make the moves needed to do what you love, then you'll be alright. Look at your auto mechanics and your bankers. Some of them don't have a college degree, but they are skilled in their craft. A good majority of them are doing what they love to do, and in my eyes, I truly believe that that is all that matters at the end of the day. Just my two cents on this whole ordeal. |

DOES DEGREE OR CERTIFICATION MATTER IN LIFE.. OR MATTERS ! who made their own rules Actually..I don't think a degree matters much..My mama went to school with this girl who made Straight A's the entire time..graduated at the top of her class..You wanna know what she's doing for a living now?..She's a checker/cashier girl at her local Kmart..Lotsa good that degree did for her... |

I DO NOT SAY, DEGREE OR CERTIFICATION ARE NO WORTH. IF YOU WONT GET WHAT YOU DESIRE FOR OR WANNA BE , THERE IS NO USE OF THE DEGREE....(MY OPINION0

DOES DEGREE OR CERTIFICATION MATTER IN LIFE.. OR MATTERS ! who made their own rules. Seems like most people thought of employment with this question. I took a different view It took me three years to get a two year AA degree. I pride myself on spelling, grammer and on, know the difference between their, there, & they're. Some people with BA, MA, Phd's do not Then it comes to common sense! Ron |
