It is understood that the United States gives people the right to practice any religion they want. Freedom of religion is okay. People have the right to purchase private property also. Private property was purchased at ground zero by a company called Soho Properties for the cost of $4.5 million. Although, the business did not have revenues counting half this last year, they had the money to buy the property. The mosque will cost $200 million to build when completed. The $200 million is coming from foreign sources, not Americans or citizens of the United States. Mayor Bloomberg says we as people do not have a right to ask where the funding for this church is coming from. He says as you would not ask the church who put money in the basket at your church. The problem is that the funding for this church is not coming from our American citizens as our local church's funding comes from the local citizens of the church. We all must tell the government where all of our money comes from at the end of each year when we file our taxes or surely, we are committing some kind of crime. It appears we can build something and call it a church to protect us from having to answer to anyone. Hatemongering is wrong. If we are going to hold all Muslims responsible for terrorist who chose their religion. We have to hold all Christians responsible for the terrorists who chose their religion. Etc.. and so on. And the big plus is that we have freedom of religion in this country. It does not state that we have freedom of religion in this country until a terrorist act is done by someone of your religion. Now personally we can do away will all man made religions, I have no problem with that. But we have to be fair across the board. Either we are a free religion country or we are not. And if we are not I have some suggestions to start removing religion. |

Personally i believe if our state dept is going to send out travel alerts for United States citizens traveling abroad they find these countries to be a threat to us. Even Israel is in this mess recently.
If these countries we are being told can not protect us when we are in a foriegn country then why would idealogies of these countries not under our scrutiny when thier citizens or dual citizens or when citizens have alot of dealings with these countries not fall under the Patriot act that we had to have to protect uis against Terrorists? Is not the Patriot act suppose to be a tool where our Govt. has the right uder its sole descretion to search and detain any individual corporation or religious activites that might have links to coutries where we as Americans have warned our Govt. has little control and thier or our lives might be in trouble if we travel thier. Is that not what Travel alerts and the Patriot act is suppose to be aboutr? If so then why do we not scrutinize any Mopsque that the American public brings to the U S Govt. attention as them/they/we see as a possible threat? If we throw this out then let the Govt. at least throw out the Patriot Act which is why when u get pulled over if a Police officer in his opinion u r hiding something has the right to search u and your vehicle and by pass our most basic rights as Citizens? Yet we have become so politicalized that any wave in the press and our officials run for cover to make sure they doi not OFFEND anyone. As long as you link us to terrorism as well, I can agree that there should be a watch for terrorism at all levels in all religions, races, creeds, backgrounds, economic status, etc...

I dont know how to post this without being incredibly negative! I completely oppose it. I understand the purpose of their whole idea, but who the hell are they to cause it then get the ten step up over Americans? Where in the hell are your brains?! I work with several middle easterners, great people, dont get me wrong, but there are several other places that this can be built. Ground Zero? Honestly? Are you trying to smack every American in the face and allow us to be walked on once again? This is just shouting, WE FORGIVE YOU! **** THAT! No matter what religion to coorolate with the distruction of 9/11, this converstaion would still be going. The only difference is our own people wouldnt have done this. Place a church for OUR people to go to in rememberance of what we have lost!!!!!!!!!!! Not true. Christian terrorists never cause a blink in the building of Christian churches. Ummm. The Crusades ended in the 13th century. The Inquisition was over 150 years ago.... Didn't we learn anything? Now, there is no significant Christian terrorism to compare with what is happening TODAY within radical islam. So the issue is how are we going to end it. 9/11 was 21st century islamic terrorism. No comparison with abortion doctor snipers here...Know what I mean? When an abortion clinic is bombed or an abortion clinic doc shot, noone says "We best not build that Christian church two blocks down from where that Christian terrorist killed". See the point. You just don't see anyone complaining about Christian terrorists and there are terrorists in all religions I am sure. You can't reasonably compare an abortion clinic attack with the thousands killed by islamic terrorists as in the WTC center bombings. Multiple airplane hijackings...the scale (ahem) is just slightly different. Moreover, every time there is such an abortion doc shooting or clinic bombing there certainly IS a justifiable backlash against those who advocate such reprehensible and terroristic attacks. As there should be. So sure. So what big deal. I would think that the same principle applies. If there were a church whose adherents advocated and successfully carried out the massacre of thousands of innocent people (but there isn't) I would not be for having them erect a 15 story recreation center at the scene of their crime either. No matter what religion they were. But like I said...there is not such other religion at this point in time so it is a silly argument and irrelevant to the issue at hand. |

Nobody paid attention to Adolph Hitler's book Mein Kampf before WWII. He outlined his plan and made it happen with help from a hand full of men he met in Prison. His political Party led to damn near exterminating all Jews in Europe as well as damn near conquering the European half of the world.
The Quar-an should be viewed exactly like Mein Kampf and not ignored or over looked or reinterpreted to pat someone's over bloated sense of tolerance. The IDEALS AND RELIGION of ISLAM and its supporters and clergy ARE the enemy. The subjugated people under it are innocent just like so many European Christians under the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
