Does Arizona provide water to LA? Ah-ha!! I know your type, ya' big instigator! Throw in the hamburger and watch 'em fight over it!! If they do, Az oughta just turn off da spigot or raise the rate a couple thousand percent. When they couldn't pay the bill, put a lean on LA. Then, Az could make the tough Immigration laws there. Great plan, Ms Winx!! |

Does Arizona provide water to LA? I would guess that large ocean right BESIDE california helps quite a bit....seriously,,,I doubt LA, in a state that is right next to the ocean, is depending upon Arizona, a desert state, for water(the geography just doesnt seem likely) |

it makes me kind of sorry that i booked a couple of weeks vacation in south carolina this year instead of arizona/new mexico like i'd planned.

this too will pass, but I hope soon
Arizona is , in my opinion, reacting impulsively instead of logically to their illegal immigration issues by lashing out at anything mexican,,,,, |

LA is a coastal desert, environmentalists there live accordingly (planting desert plants on their property). The Colorado river goes through AZ, so its not impossible that AZ is supplying water to LA. |

Mexican culture is all over the place, and always has been. Nobody except a few fringe cooks have problems with Mexicans in general. It's only the illegal aliens that make it hard for everyone by using the government apparatus to enforce their will on people they disagree with. Oh, and the silly marches they did a few years ago in downtown Phoenix was a public relations nightmare. The backlash from that nonsense set the illegal aliens' cause back a decade or so. I don't see why so many people who have no understanding of the local culture think it's their business to tell Arizonans what to do. I say, if you're not from here, you have no business in our politics. |

Arizona water companies don't have the desalinization equipment to process ocean water (that I know of). The water has always come from the various rivers. |

Is 'racism' always wrong?
I am most definitely not opposed to "affirmative action". I see a strong argument for continuing affirmative action for a while yet to be 'net win' for our society; however, it is essentially racist. By racist here I mean: "based on the idea that people of different races should be treated differently". Or maybe: "disproportionately effecting different races." Or even: "encouraging decisions to be made on the basis of a person's race". The fact that AA is racist does not made AA wrong, as making decisions based on race is not always wrong. I am a huge fan of 'black merit-based scholarships', as these will help to address racial disparity in our country. These scholarship are 'a good thing' in my book, and they are obviously racist. |

The Federal government has failed to keep the borders secure, the state of Arizona has every right to take these steps. The uproar is because of the large block of Hispanic votes and dollars that will be lost to politicos and businesses that the support it.

The Colorado River supplies water to Southern California. Several states meet there. I can't remember what role Arizona played in that though. |

Cool, thats what I thought; like you say, maybe the water is shunted in Nevada. |

I say, if you're not from here, you have no business in our politics. You are right, I am not from there, but the topic is pretty general and not posted in an ARIZONA forum, which causes me to presume that people from EVERYWHERE can post an opinion and are being invited to,,, My niece has grown up in Arizona since she was three(she is now 30) and until last year was raising her children there as well, I hear quite a bit from her,,but, like most things people comment on, my opinions are based in reading and second hand information given me by those who experienced it ,,,, I was not getting involved in the politics very deeply or telling Arizonians what to do so much as giving an opinion about the two latest legislative issues,, the timing of the SECOND seems pretty coincidentally close to the FIRST to presume a correlation,,, the first law was poorly worded in a way that would have included legally justifiable profiling,,they re worded it and it is fine,,,now (if the story cited in the OP is accurate) they are actually BANNING certain education from the schools , which seems a very REACTIONARY premise rather than a logical one,,, |

Follow-up on my previous post: Merriam-webster defines racism as:
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
If this were the kind of racism we were talking about - well, this is just is just stupid. I mean, its illogical, has no basis in evidence or reality, and its a sick, unhealthy, unloving, inhumane attitude to have. Further, if this were the kind of racism we were talking about, its just dumb to say that the arizona law is 'racist'. Addressing the many issues which are created or exacerbated by the presence of illegal mexican immigrants is not a product of thinking one race is inherently superior to others. |

California is bankrupt. Someone is going to have to bail them out. I hope that the other 49 states rise up and say NO when the feds have to step in. We will see who has the last laugh and it won't be california.

Arizona should (1) Thank 'em for the favor, and (2) have maps, cold drinks, snacks, and a bus ticket ready to give each illegal captured so they can find their way to CA, specifically to L.A., and also give 'em a list of organizations in that city that provide instructions to illegals on how to game the system. Let CA live with 'em ... viva la reconquista, si?
