This is why God said "Thou Shalt Not Kill" ..which means do not intentionly take a life...to knowingly try and find ways to circumvent around his commands ..is the prelude to disobedience Christain loopholes, the stuff that witch burnings are made up. There are even modern day preachers who would have all gays sentenced to death, because they claim that in the Old Testament God commands us to kill homosexuals. And of course, Jesus did not come to change the laws one jot nor one tittle, so there you go! A perfectly legitimate excuse to murder anyone who is guilty of same-gender love in the name of God. Christian loopholes. It's a very DANGEROUS mythology to put your faith in, and/or SUPPORT! oh but incorrect, yes the old testament does tell us to stone them. But Jesus fulfilled the old testament and gave us the new testament. The old testament no longer applies to us, only what is in the new testament. Now before anyone points it out, yes the 10 commandments were in the old testament, BUT if you follow the teachings of Jesus he will teach us not to do the same as was in the 10 commandments. So why did "God" change? (From the old to the new testament it is a completely different God, new rules etc.) God didn't "change". Everything works in phases. The day, the seasons, EVERYTHING. In the beginning there wasn't many people on the earth, but the starting phase ended when the world grew to a larger population. With a larger population you would have more people saying they are doing something to another cause of a punishment for whatever but it not be true, this would become more prone with a larger population. So that phase end and started phase two, giving Jesus to us so who ever believes in him shall live forever. and it's not a completely different God from old testament to the new.... can you give some examples to go with this statement? He did indeed change. The God of the old testament was a tyrant. (stoning children burning witches, killing pagans and heretics etc.) and then Jesus came along and "preached" love and kindness in the Zen Buddhist fashion. This is not the same god, or else this god had a change of heart, or else he is just pretending to be 'nice' to gain followers. It was the old time religion made new to gain followers and put many religious sects under the roof and power of the Roman Empire. The Empire lives today, and there are efforts underway as we speak to find a way to create a one world government worshiping under one God. Its all politics. Its not really about God at all. It is the same God we have today, he did NOT change. The only thing that "changed" was that people are no longer judged for their sins on earth eg., stoning, hand for a hand, ect. We will be judged by Jesus when he returns. Correction: It is the same concept of the Christian God, which is just the opinions of Christians. But okay, if you say that Jesus is the same as the jealous god of war of the old testament, then I guess I don't like Jesus either. |

Strong's to find the correct meaning. Thou shalt not MURDER.
Murder is to lay wait and to kill for personal reason of gain in any form. But to defend self, family,...etc. is not the same. Once again read dictionaries and reference for answers. If you wish to think of it this way. Volantary and involantary manslaughter. Both bring a death, one is murder and the other is to kill. The Commandment is "Thou shalt not Murder" use the Strong's to return to the true meaning of the Caldian/Hebrew word used. |

The God of old had to deal with a savage people. They had to be taught to bathe, health rules, rules for clean and rules for unclean, that which was good to eat and that which was not. These people were lawless in all respects. If one was to disobey God himself, he had to die or all would do so and they would remain lawless.
The people around them were on the land belonging to the Hebrews. Those people were warlike and simply would not move. They would fight. So the Hebrews after Egypt had to fight for thier own land and the reason for killing them was to remove all pagan ways and temples from the land. If some were left alive they would polute God's people with paganism and lawlessness. If I took your home and land....without a police force to help you.......you would war with me and kill me. You would not suffer me to live my ways of lawlessness on your land and in your house. You would kill!!!!! Now as the people changed and had laws. They had a system of life learned from birth.....then a new thing could happen. Peace, love, tolerance, ....etc. To plant one must tear up the soil with violence.....but once the trees are mature they may be tended with care and the soil nurtured. The Hebrew did not steal the land by murder....it was theirs. When white men came to America.....they murdered, cheated, and stole for land. The Indians were victims of an evil people......but if the white man had left his land fallow for a time and Indians had taken the Americas, then the white man would fight to regain his land from those who stole it. This is why the fighting is going on today for the Holy lands. One group cliams birth right by one mother and another birthright by another. It is the same land returned to the Hebrews with the help of God. God took the smallest, the least, and claimed them for his people. They had to have help or be destroyed or never regain their stolen lands. Then with power comes mercy, peace, love, understanding, tolerance......With laws there can be forgiveness, tolerance, and it will not destroy the way. Look at our country today,by tolerance, by kindness, by mercy we have lost laws through unsound minds and the killers walk the street and the good people are locked behind their own doors. When you rule a people....you will learn much! or learn from God how it had to be because of the people....not God. Teenagers! LOL |

P.S. (Thou shalt not murder) not kill/murder.....murder is different than kill. exactly how do you murder someone without killing them .....not sure even God can pull that one off.....but it does pose an interesting question ....maybe it only applies to cats ...you can murder a cat and it will have 8 more lives, but that only works on TV also since it was Jesus mission to die... was Jesus murdered or was he killed ....or did he use the incident to help him commit suicide and martydom if Adam and Eve did not know about good and evil and killed someone would it be murder or would it become murder only after they took from the fruit....either way you look at it they killed this also prose another interesting question...if Adam and Eve were in the garden unknowingly committing evil because they lack the knowledge of good and evil wouldn't that mean they were already sinners and condemn to go to Hell before they took from the fruit murder is to kill as apple is to fruit example,, If I murder I have killed AND If I eat an apple I have eaten fruit BUT it does not follow that If I kill, I have murdered, and if I eat fruit I have eaten an apple once again a bad analogy....where in The Ten Commandments does God states "Thou Shalt Not Eat Fruit" if there were such a commandment then we would have to debate whether it's a sin to eat a tomato since some classify the tomato as being a fruit and others classify the tomato as being a vegetable This is why God said "Thou Shalt Not Kill" ..which means do not intentionly take a life...to knowingly try and find ways to circumvent around his commands ..is the prelude to disobedience my analogy did not mention the ten commandments,,,so it was sound The commandment is to not MURDER, which is but one type of killing MsHarmony...you were either responding to my post about The Ten Commandments or you were rambling delusionally off the immediate line of discussion, but either way it only displays why your analogy was bad ... the bible does not state "Thou Shalt Not Murder" ..it states "Thou Shalt Not Kill".....just because one makes a claim of being a member of a particular religion do not give them the right to change what was written in the bible so that they can intentionly perform violence on their fellow Man ...it only displays a lack of faith in the word of God |

Hence the KJV translation as “thou shalt not kill” is too broad. |

That is like saying there is no difference between volantary and involatary homicide my friend. Yes they are dead......but they are still not the same. I will not waste further time. Yes there is a difference in killing with intent and killing by accident or in defense of your life. I do understand that. If you are careless you could kill someone on accident. That is a terrible tragedy, more horrible than I can imagine. If you have to kill someone in defense of your life that too is a tragedy. If you kill (murder) with intent out of hatred or ignorance that is also a tragedy. But all I said was that all my life, the Bible I grew up with and the ten commandments I grew up with taught THOU SHALT NOT KILL. Now it appears that religious people are nitpicking that commandment because they want to justify all of their bloody wars. I really don't care. What I do care is that if that part of the Bible is now WRONG OR MISTRANLATED, the question in my mind would be how many other things in today's bible are wrong or mistranslated. This does not instill confidence in the Bible for people like me who have doubts about it in the first place. In fact, it merely confirms my suspicions that all of these religious people are full of it. |

The scriptures are online. But get a KJ and a matching Strong's exhaustive Concordance with dictionaries......online too. I use books! Why bother? It should be crystal clear to any sane person that these stories, as written, cannot possibly be a communication from any God to humankind. The history of the story is too culturally dependent. This would have been a God who ignored the Indians of India, the Chinese, the Japanese, etc, etc, etc. It's too culturally-specific to have been a genuine message from the creator of humanity. Besides, why a KJV of the story? That's already a very BIASED piece of advice on YOUR PART. Why not the Torah, or the Quran? What gives you the right to choose for other people WHICH of these books is the right one (if any?) Maybe the real God is explained through Wicca and you're selling the wares of Satan. After all, you must believe in Satan. Your God would have no excuses for most of his actions if he didn't have Satan to blame his faults on. Jesus would be a meaningless concept without Satan too. Satan must come before Jesus in your story. You can't be saved by Jesus untill you first accept Satan as your demon. You must accept Satan as your demon FIRST, otherwise, it's meaningless to accept Jesus as your "savior". |

murder is to kill as apple is to fruit what part of that analogy is bad or false? MsHarmony...when did I say that your analogy was false...this is another example of how you try to use deception in your responses I said that your analogy was bad because it had nothing to do with the immediate discussion about The Ten Commandments "Thou Shalt not Kill"....your apple analogy was not a commandment that was handed down by God |
