Condoms that glow in the dark!! So, what did you do with them? Make finger puppets? ![]() |

Oh yeah. In my younger days, I had a closet-full of worthless stuff I just 'HAD' to have 'cuz it looked so 'cool' on TV or in that print ad ... I hate to say I once bought a 'mood ring' ... no 'pet rock', tho' - and NO 'chia pet' ... or 'egg scrambler' ... I've gotten smarter as I've aged ... kinda like fine cheese ... and yeah, I once even bought a Water Pik ... that lasted about two weeks before it was just too much trouble to use ... Hey I love my new redesigned mood ring! Not that I wear it but I love it! Never did the 'pet rock' but did buy a chia pet head for my step son when he was very upset over early onset balding!!! Oh the good memories of step parenthood! LOL Just last night (or very early this morning) I ordered a skin care line...anyone know the Cindy Crawford line??? For the most part I refrain and when I do buy something dumb/wrong I "take it back a rah rah" |

i bought this multi-era country boxed CD package for Robin's birthday this year and when i gave it to him, he told me he didn't have a CD player in his car.
although he does have one at home, i thought it'd make for good listening while he drove back and forth to dialysis. sigh, i guess i'll have to invest in a CD player for his car for christmas. ![]() |

I'd suggest you get an MP3 player for his car, then put the music from the cd set on it... Just a suggestion.

I've done it more times than I can count!

Oh, everything I buy is useful, even if I end up not using it or whatever I know that I am helping stimulate the economy which helps people keep in jobs.

I'm not much for gadgets, but I do have a tendency to buy furniture at junk stores and flea markets that 'just need a little work'. I now have no less than 5 old (from the 40's) wooden chairs that are in various stages of refinishing, an end table that needs it's legs re-glued, a buffet that needs several very small repairs, etc. I'll be dead before I get all my 'little' projects done!

I encourage EVERYONE in these tough financial times to WASTE as MUCH MONEY as you POSSIBLY CAN! Buy things that you don't need until you're nearly broke, and living on nothing but bread on water!! It helps keep the economy flowing and helps keep people in jobs.

It helps keep the economy flowing and helps keep people in jobs. I guess I missed the posts where people said they were blatantly wasting money... Sometimes we buy things that aren't what we thought they were... It's their money to spend.. Who said they were spending until they were broke? |

most purchases are impulse purchases...tied to emotion, not logic or functionality...it is human nature...buying useless pos will not stop anytime soon...infomercials are a multibillion dollar industry for a reason Most purchases? Pretty dismal view and rather impossible... Well maybe if you're a teenager or anyone still living with mom and dad, but otherwise MOST purchases keep me alive and that's going to true most people. As for "impulse purchases" though I do it most every time I go out, I limit myself very strictly dollar wise. While those can be some of the things I that are referred to here as "useless", the amount of money is insignificant by comparison. |
