I agree..... but you left out daddy who is feeding the favored
child (Israel) |

Somebody has to do a lot of backpaddling fairly rapid, I don't think the
US will be much longer in the position to provide the support Israel will need. They are both trapped between a rock and a hard place. |

Daddy didn't start the conflict, he just profits from it. (applies to
whatever region you wish to throw the dart at on the map) |

Not sure if this thread is dead or not...but figured with everyone else
re-writing history..I would add my re-write to the record. First the title of thread "Israeli occupation of Palestine" is a mis-nomer..there is no "Palestine"..the Palestine people where thrown out of Jordan, Egypt and Lebenon for being "undersireables" kinda like arab gypsies..they were thieves, cons and the like.So the "Palestinian Territory" was just a name for the region that these undisrables existed in..not an actual "country" with defined borders. Second..When the U.N. charter gave the Jewish people their own land or state if you will...it was nothing but barren land and desert that no one wanted anyway. It wasn't until their hard work and investing millions of dollars( financed mainly by U.S. dollars) in irrigation and industry that it became a fruitful and beautiful place to live... that is when the so called"Palestinians"wantedin on the bounty. Third..It was Jordan, Eygpt and Lebenon that attacked Israel in 1967 (for the above mentioned resons) and Isreal just happened to defeat all three countries in that war...now in a historical prospective...we in the United States see this differently then anyone else in the world because we are the ONLY country in HISTORY that does NOT conquer, In other words...every country in every war in history that "wins" takes and keeps the territory from the country they battle...We are the first and only country that does not follow that policy. So Israel kept the land that they conquered in that war when THEY were attacked. It should be noted that they have returned most of the land they "won" back to Eygpt, Jordan, Lebonon and even to "Palestine" when indeed they did not have to according to historical presedent and international law. Also..calling Israel a "jewish state"is not a very accurate statement..there are many Arabs that live and work peacefully in Israel and even take part in the government as well as many Christians too.In conclusion..I think most (not all) arab countries don't have an issue with Israels existance..its more that they don't want to have the Palestinians coming back into their own countries then anything else...sure all Palestinians are not crooks, thieves and terrorists..probably most want to work hard and accomplish what the Isaeli people have done but unfortunately as in alot of cases its the terrorists that get the finanacing from rouge governments or entities that control the agenda. As long as we have radical fundamentalist Islamic "states" financing the government of "Palestine" there will be no peace regardless of what Israel gives up or does..its just contraryto the whole fundamentalist Islamic idealogy whose stated purpose is to turn the whole world (yes..even us) into an Islamic global society. If the Country of Isreal was to move to Texas...they would still find away to attack..car bomb etc the people of Israel. In Short..I think if the Palestinian people were allowed to vote (without fear of retribution) on wanting their own state as defined by the last U.N charter..it would be passed overwelmingly but unfortunately that will never happen as long as Hamas or the Fatah parties exist there. So for now and the forseeable future we must help defend Israel and stop the funding of Palestinian violence from outside sources. ok..now I need a drink |

Morning, everyone!
I'm meeting deadlines these days so can't post. Redy, I have not forgotten your excellent questions. Imkeys -- thanks for your thoguhts, and I'll get back, too. Fanta and Andrea stop having so much fun. I'm JEALOUS! Alex, sweet one.... Harry, move over a bit! Where's my pole? You know I'll bring my own bait, if I can just get this hook out of my mouth. Red Wine, we will have to go back and review history if you think that Palestine and the Palestinians never existed! In the meantime, could you dig back and see the Palestine population stats I posted some time ago? If you are up for reading things I can post several history sources that are pretty good. Greetings to all, and have a super day! Oceans |

Ok Oceans..if you can show me any map pre 1948 that shows a bordered
Palestinian state I will concede. Taken right from encylopedia...The term Palestine is derived from the name of the Philistines, a people of uncertain origins, possibly Aegean, who, in the 12th century BCE, settled along the southern Mediterranean coastal plain and disappeared several centuries later....also from encyclopedia...In historical contexts, especially predating the establishment of the State of Israel, Palestine was mostly a geographical term, particularly used in Greek, Latin, Arabic, and other languages taking their geographical vocabulary from them; it comprised the Roman sub-province of Syria Palaestina, roughly equivalent to ancient Canaan (including the Biblical kingdoms of Israel, Judah, Moab, Ammon, and Philistia) and thus included much of the land on either side of the Jordan River although with further political sub-divisions along the River Jordan valley. So I stand by my assertion that there is no Palestine as defined as a country with set borders and that the land palestine refers to, has been shared by many for thousands of years including the biblical Jews. |

Serchin4MyRedWine,
Arafat received a Nobel Peace Prize for being a terrorist. There will never be peace as long as Israel exists. I sit here waiting for your analysis to be parsed into oblivion or for you to be dismissed as uneducated enough to grasp the situation. |

Sorry about that, I must need my coffee.

Hi, Red Wine!
Quick posting -- I can show you dozens! I'll get back to you with their names and dates. Some of them have been published in a collection of plates of maps of Palestine -- I have it in my library -- and will get you that reference. I'm off to work and will get you the leads later. Oceans |

yes Oceans..but I'll bet every map you find will show different
geographical regions as "Palestine"..because I'm not saying the "term" Palestine did not exist...quite the contrary...I'm saying Palestine as a internationally reconnized Country with defined borders has never existed...the term Palestine has been used very "loosely" to define a region that you can say still covers parts of countries with reconnized borders like Jordan, Lebenon etc...so do we give back all their land to the so called Palestines too? |

Serchin4MyRedWine,
You're rocking now. The British created Jordan which later annexed the West Bank. Should the "Palestinians" claim sovereign rights to Jordan as well? |
|
|
|
1920, British Palestine, includes areas that are now Lebanon and Jordan.
As well as parts of other countries. It was called British Palestine!!!! http://www.solarnavigator.net/geography/geography_images/Palestine_British_Mandate_1920.jpg |

Hi, Red Wine,
I'm back at my desk. Before I start listing a few of the maps, I'd like to ask you a question. How did you come to this idea that Palestine as a distinct political entity hasn't existed on maps? |
|
|
|
British Palestine? Are you saying that Jordan is not part of the land
of "Palestine?" And since when does a notation on a map mean a sovereign right to territory? Prussians unite!!! Take back your land!!!! I have a map right here that says it's yours. |

Or "Iroquois Nation", Imkeys?
I am just responding to Red Wine, and waiting for him to answer my question, before I give him the info on the maps. Oceans |
