put all the democrats on one side and all the republicans on the other what would happen? Which side would have a higher unemployment rate? which side would have higher taxes? Which side would flourish or die and which side would succeed or fail and why?

What about independents and unaffiliated (me), where would they fit?

sorry

you're gonna have to move to Texas

you'd like Austin. it's pretty progressive and LOTS of good music

As I walk through this wicked world
Searching for light in the darkness of insanity
I ask myself, is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred and misery?
And each time I feel like this inside
There's one thing I want to know
Oh, what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?
And as I walk on through troubled times
My spirit gets so down-hearted sometimes
So where are the strong?
And who are the trusted
And where is that harmony (sweet harmony)
'Cause each time I feel it slipping away
Just makes me want to cry
What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?
Oh, what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?
So where are the strong?
And who are the trusted?
And where is that harmony? Sweet harmony
'Cause each time I feel it slipping away

Oh, what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding
Oh, what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding ?

it's just a hypothetical to maybe get people to think about results rather than ideology. i myself as ultra conservative would have no place but i know which side i agree with most. but certainly not in everything!

I don't know but Hitler could probably answer that question! But then again if we love evil maybe it will disappear?

Unfortunately, I believe a civil war will occur again one day in this country. The difference of opinions are stark between the political parties. I also believe that the people of this country will one day realize that the government isn't working as it should be and civil unrest will become popular again.

Of course many don't believe it to be true, but mark my words, you shall see it happening sooner than you think as I have observed many frustrated third based political parties expressing their feelings quiet profoundly.

I dont think it will

yeah, the two sides are incredibly polarized and highly intolerant of the other

if there was a geographical deliniation between the two I would agree. But they are scattered in amongst each other and there wouldn't really be a tangible thing to fight over

I think it'll just stay gridlocked for ever and nothing will ever get done and one day we'll start teaching Chinese in our schools cause that will be the new language of commerce and global business

Send the independants to Alaska and the unaffiliated to Mecca.
After a few minutes in Mecca, the unaffiliated will want to belong somewhere else.laugh

It is already happening today with Mandarin. My child is on her second year of Mandarin in her private school.

I myself am studying it intensively, but not because of what China will be or become, but because I am fascinated with the culture, language, food, history, and its people.

Nevertheless, I also do not wish a civil war in the United States, but it surely seems like there are two different strong opinions on a great deal of topics Congress presents to the public.

I think if we split the country in half it should be

Texas

and the other half

I have no problem with that, I have been thinking about moving to Texas anyway.

I agree totaly. The republican half of the country would be full of pollution as we all know they would do away with the meddling EPA. Let those of us who care about the environment have the beautifull North with our lakes and streams free of chemical runoffs. Our fertile soil would be great for organic farming.

I wonder if the person who typed this ^^ knows that the EPA regulations about handsoap kill soil microbes? Or that the government funds inefficient farming methods that CAUSE pollution? More likely, the author of the quoted text is just waxing ignorant, as Americans are trained to do in government schools. frustrated laugh

The Democrats and the Republicans are very similar or close in many policies . When I have the choice I always prefer the Democrats although I still think both the Republicans and the Democrats do not represent the real interest of the nation and both screw up the constitution when that can do so safely . When you have nearly the same faces again and again in the senate, the congress and the White House; you got a real danger around you .

noway Would you like the handsoap factory to have the factory runoff into the rivers or for that matter just have them dumped into a chemical pond like the good old days? I am glad there is a government body that is responsible to see these things do not happen.

Not even, especially if Palin is any example.

I believe the willing2 should go to Mecca so he can learn that not all Islamics are extremists. Cause I don't need to learn it.

Otherwise, just because they do not belong to one of the two parties they have to be punished?

hmmmm didn't we try that before? Just before the civil war? laugh

Yes we did and the republicans won the civil war!

Well DAaaaa!!
Lincoln was the first Republican President and he invaded, disregarding a States sovereignty, SC!
Because of his actions other states quickly withdrew from the Union!
You should say he and the Republican Party were responsible for the Civil War.
This country doesn't need the Republican Party. It should be disbanded and a new party take its place on America's political landscape.
Then the country can truly move forward! The Republican Party is holding this country back.

LMAO!
Still don't have a clue aye?
Independents and non-affiliated have decided the political direction and every President this country has ever had.
They are truly the only group in this country able to think for themselves and vote outside a party platform.
Republicans attack Democrats, and Democrats attack Republicans. But, it was the Independents that saved this country from Bush and the Republican Party.
I suppose you are advocating voting for clueless Palin in 2012! ROFLMAO

For at least a few generations, we are safe from Civil War. I think people have to get to a stage of severe desparation before they willingly lay down their lives and we arent there yet. I certainly am not dying nor letting my children die over territory or material things,,and what else is there to fight about?

I'm with it.
A lot of people in this country just like to gripe. Those who gripe the loudest don't have the balls to do anything risky.
Heck, most of them dont even vote!
