No, it's not slang anymore. It's in Websters American dictionary, so it's now recognized as a real word. Outside of country music, the first place I heard it was down in Texas. I say it up here in Yankeeville, and my friends look at me strange. But they forget that I spent 7 years down yonder.. My first adult years, too. From 18 to 25.

Oh, it is legitimate. I do understand that everyone else has a limited vocabulary and doesn't speak proper Texish....it ain't ya'lls fault.
Now, youse guys will just have to learn how to incorporate it into daily speech to seem normal....while ya'll pahk da cah inda yahd. |

Through the decades, and through hurried speech, a question like "How are you all doing today" became "How ya'll doing"? Of course, "How are you all doing today" is poor grammar of itself but I digress! Its labeled as Southern American English. |
