Topic: Assumptions | |
---|---|
I only make assumptions which are reasonable surmise based on their representation of themselves. Specifically as it pertains to this site, I can reasonably assume that someone who refuses to type in complete sentences or fails to use any form of punctuation WILL inevitably annoy the sh*t out of me. I do make those kinds of assumptions on here as well. |

Do you tend to make assumptions about people you don't know? Or, do you ask questions and get to know them first? No, i make DECISIONS about people i dont know and stick with them no matter what evidence i find out to the contrary. haha |

I don't know. That is a scary thought about someone resorting to assume the worst out of somebody and then not acknowledge the evidence that proves that it is not true.
That is why I think it is best to assume the best out of someone instead of the other way around. Pretty much a practical way to get to know someone. I assume. |

I think most people make assumptions, but I try not to. You never know what someone is like underneath everything projected. So personally I like to ask questions and get to know them first. I assume that's the best way to handle it.

Well, I don't usually make assumptions based on cultural or ethnic stereotypes. My downfall is that I assume everyone is trustworthy, everyone has a sense of humor and the worst assumption of all, that everyone loves me....! I've unintentionally upset a few people right here on mingle, cuz I've joked around, or gotten too friendly with them... I just can't seem to be able to change my goofy behavior. I love you mahan and i assume you love me(my doggie style) too.............but not you mahan, you really pissed me off when you made my hair and teeth fall out! |

I assume that just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not following me.

Try to ask the right questions, even though some may think that's too old fashioned

Ok, ok, I did make an assumption and the sad part is I do know them. And I do know the truth. I just opened mouth and inserted foot, not being logical.
I will admit it, now how to fix it |

Do you tend to make assumptions about people you don't know? Or, do you ask questions and get to know them first? I actually pride myself in not making general assumptions about people. I try to take them at face value at first and reserve my opinion until I get to know them better. I wish more people did that. I find it funny that so many people feel the need to jump on someone (especially on sites like Mingle) because they write or speak something that is outside the norm... or what they think is outside the norm, without taking time to figure out who the person is, not just what they say. I've always thought that it is better to open your mind and keep your mouth shut, and you can learn a lot that you'd have never guessed. Eh... ironic post, I'd say. |

That is why I think it is best to assume the best out of someone instead of the other way around. Pretty much a practical way to get to know someone. I assume. That is equally biased and ridiculous. The best way is to simply acquire information, them place it into context. That is what is practical. Don't go positive or negative. |
