Can anyone else admit they get paid too MUCH for what they do?

My job is pretty tough to learn and is highly responsible, but i dont really do a great deal else other than play on the internet, eat and sleep. a 12 hour shift for me usually means about a couple of hours of actual work.

I've worked for the government in various full-time permanent, and part-time casual positions for over 15 years.

Of COURSE I am overpaid for what I do!

When I was in the Army I thought I was under paid (I think they still are)

Now I work for the government and it's hard to say. I make ok money but we do work in some extreme conditions so I think it averages out.

Yep, I make way more than I should. It's not that I'm not worth it, but work is SUPER slow. Everyone else was released, 10 of us stayed on and are paid quite well to do not much. I know my times coming though, so I'm stocking it away.

Lol! Gotta love government jobs! Has the news about the British Government surfaced over there? About how the members of parliament have been fiddling their expenses? They dont actually earn that high a salary for what they do, but they really know how to bump up their income!

Had the job, no longer do. Travel to exotic foreign lands, ride in multi-million dollar vehicles, handle high-powered weaponry, and eat the finest of foods.

Yes, Army, be all you can be.

Business is pretty slow here as well. My company just announced another substantial number of redundancies. My particular department is recruiting still though, we have to have a certain number of bodies to keep the operation going, even if we arent all necessarily rushed off our feet.

A friend is still trying to get me a job with the Federal Government so I can do just about nothing with excellent benefits & pay.

Its massive news here, and heads are gonna roll. They were blatantly claiming for things that the tax payer should not have to pay for

Our federal government probably pays the least out of the levels (federal, provincial, municipal). Where you REALLY want to get in with big bucks and do nothing is working for the City of Toronto. Talk about waste!

Ours do that here all the time and the dumbass Canadians re-elect them the following year!

Ok now, I work for the Federal Government and make very good money, but I work long hours, some nights and weekends and am available via cell phone and blackberry to support Marines in Theatre and OCONUS.

Say what you will about Government Employees but some of us earn our pay. *hopping down off her soap box*

No. I there will be times where I will handle dangerous, corrosive, caustic, potentially-carcinogenic and explosive agents while on the job. I will also be tasked to move extremely heavy equipment without the use of mechanical assistance. I will often work long, non-standard hours (eighteen-hours plus at times) with little in the way of rest or sleep, and STILL get pushed and brow-beaten into working even harder.

I wish, it's really hard to get a Federal job around here, years ago I got hired for the sheriff's dept ( which is Federal) then 911 hit & they told me they needed the funds for 911 & I was out of a job!
