When my job is busy... I'm working a million miles and hour with my hair on fire. But I have days when there is nothing at all to do... although those days are few.
My job is not so much technical as it is a detailed routine in which there is way too much outside input which has the potential to throw the whole thing into a death spiral! Thank goodness I'm a problem solver! The pay is lousy (from what I'm used to), but the benefits are decent. Gotta love government work! I never knew local county politics could be so "interesting". |

Can anyone else admit they get paid too MUCH for what they do? My job is pretty tough to learn and is highly responsible, but i dont really do a great deal else other than play on the internet, eat and sleep. a 12 hour shift for me usually means about a couple of hours of actual work. No. I there will be times where I will handle dangerous, corrosive, caustic, potentially-carcinogenic and explosive agents while on the job. I will also be tasked to move extremely heavy equipment without the use of mechanical assistance. I will often work long, non-standard hours (eighteen-hours plus at times) with little in the way of rest or sleep, and STILL get pushed and brow-beaten into working even harder. Sometimes i look at what i do and think i deserve my money. My phone could ring at any point in time and there might be a life or death situation for me to deal with. Or else it could be a situation where a huge amount of cash(hundreds of millions if not billions) might be at risk. Or else lots of other stuff! But for the most part, i do get paid to do absolutely nothing, and they pay me pretty well at that. |

I work in a security control room that looks after some very high risk clients(though also some very low risk low value ones as well!). |
