Whatever's handy at the time. I recently visited Seattle and purchased several books from a very cool used book store and all I had to save my place in the one I started was the reciept.

NEVER DOG-EAR A BOOK PAGE!!! i've used everything from a real bookmarker to postit notes. dollar bills tissues tabs junk mail post card a nail file once receipts are a favorite clothing tags... anything i can get myhands on.

If it's my book, I'll usually fold the page corner down. (yeah, I know...it's bad to dog-ear a book. Just a bad habit of mine. ) If it's a book borrowed from a friend or the library, I'll use a bookmark.

a lot of stuff... a yu-gi-oh card, a book mark, dog ear(terrible habit), memory, condom wrapper, etc... its whatever is available at the time lol!

Mail, rolling papers, book markers, ruler, business cards, pen or pencil, and often just 'corner' a page.

Page folders make me CUH-RAAAAAZY! That's how you know when a member of Congress has read your book. The page is bent over.
