We are all UNIQUE individuals. I mean just that. If you think I am using that in a bad way, that is YOUR choice. Referr to how I handle things, in past post. I don't need your e-mails, pushing your questions. I say what I chose & when I chose. Then if we are all unique individuals, then why did you choose to single me out by making a statement saying that I was unique and then, on top of that, adding "BUT (caps for emphasis) we still love you, anyway," as though, even though I'm "unique," that I'm still somehow "worthy" of your love. Well, I don't know HOW you meant that, so that's all I'm asking, is how you assign that adjective to me, personally. When you didn't answer me here (and you still won't) I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask you in email, because I thought that perhaps you'd prefer to address my question in private. I don't need your acceptance, nor do I need your "love anyway," as I'm quite proud of my autonomy and my ability to form logical and discerning judgments and opinions. Yes, I suppose I'm unique in some ways, which I consider a very, very good thing. No way I want to be "like everyone else." |

Army doc:
" kerry- you made a comment about making it mandatory to own a gun,,, believe it or not there is a town in georgia named Kenshaw that did just that, 25 years ago, guess what, no murder there for the last 25yrs. it is fact, you can google it if you'd like. seems gun laws worked in that town- just not the kind of laws lib's were looking for." You don't mention how many murders per capita there were in that same town before the law. Why is that? And if and when you do, are you prepared to show those murders, if any, were the result of things like a wife poisoning a spouse for the insurance money or any other number of things a gun wouldn't have prevented? Returning once again to the concept of guns being verboten at work by employer edict (something you or your compatriots in the debate seem so loathe to address in any relevant manner), in about the same time frame, my place of employment had a No Guns Allowed on the Property, and we have also never had anyone murdered, either on the property or off. Using your logic, I could just as easily claim that absolute gun control does work. But we both know there is more to the argument, don't we? -Kerry O. |

kerry-
your "guns at the work place" i do not believe that it should be imposed/ mandated for an employer to allow guns on his/her property. I do not believe everybody should be walking around toting guns on their hips like it was the wild west. I simply believe that if I want to own a gun in my home or in the car, on my person in public, that I should be allowed to do that. There are several types of people in the world, those who act (flight 93- crashed carrying another plane to another building it never made it there- crashed in a field) and then there are those who dont act (32 dead virginia tech univ.) I hope to all i find sacred that I will never be placed in a position to have to defend my home car or family in public, but if i do or am , i would rather go down fighting -gun in my hand, than standing there saying to myself "what the hell was i thinking voting for gun control" washington dc has the most stringent gun control laws in the entire US, yet they also have among the highest violent crime rates in the US. as far as te documentation on the town prior to the mandated gun owner ship 25 years ago, im sorry i do not have that, doubt it would matter much anyway. fenny check doc |

If I recall right, CRIME rate went in the toilet also.
Law enforcement LIKED that everyone in town CARRIED. This was all started by a Illinois city baned all guns, even shot guns for hunting. Crime level soared. What do these EXAMPLES say. I'll keep mine & my carry permit. |

Face it, a person intent on commiting a violent crime, be it robbery or
mass murder or whatever, is going to choose victims that are least likely to resist. He, and to be politically correct it could be a she, wants victims that will put up little if any resistance. The fact that their intended victim(s) may be armed and able to resist has to be an area of concern for them because they want to get their dirty deed done as quickly as possible with the least amount of effort and with the least risk of injury to themselves. In other words they want sheep and our society wants not only to teach us how to be sheep, but to be good sheep. I have seen programs on TV on urban survival that teach when acosted by a mugger to have a wad of cash in your pocket that you can throw one way and then run the other hoping the mugger will go after the money. Have money ready and say "that's all I have". Carry a whistle and if attacked blow it as loud as you can. You don't have to wonder why the major cities have such high crime rates, most of them have what the crooks want, an ample supply of defenseless victims and the current mentality in Congress is not to do something about crime, but to make us more perfect victims. |

May I ask a question please, that someone may be able to answer for
me... When did crime get so high that this decision, this requirement to be armed with a gun, happen? At what point historically did this saturation point of violence appear? |

Jess, Its a constitutional right guarenteed to all Americans.
Personally I do not believe the crime rate is that great. It is our culture to be an armed nation. When I served in Europe, the people there thought Americans were barbaric. At first I denied it (to myself), but I was there for 28 months and got to travel around quite extensively, and met many Europeans. We are Barbaric, there is no dening it when compared to them. We are quick to anger, fight (fist) at the drop of a hat, and defend our right to carry weapons. Europeans do not understand this culture and are real quick and in this regard quite correct to call us barbaric. (Cowboy culture is how they describe Americans) |

your country in comparison to others. |

i was in the Caymans, and we were discussing Gun control there. they
dont allow any Guns, and the speech was about how much safer everyone is there because of it. I noticed that EVERY house and building has burgular bars on the windows and doors..... and i asked the obvious question well if its so safe, why the burgular bars??? no one had an answer. its not safe there to be in the countryside alone because of the crime by the way. if your house is out in the weeds it will get vandalised all the time. I live between two rifle ranges, on 10 acres . people ont tresspass where theyy hear automatic weapons fire. i dont have a key for my front door or my vehicles. never used them once. hmmmmm |

I made a land mine out of shot gun shells once about 2 yrs ago, just to see if I could, and then set it off. It worked, but it was crude mostly wood..... Shh,, shouldnt talk about it... I had these neighbor hood dogs raiding my trash So I to set up a boobie trap first by rigging two home made explosives (shot gun shells), to trees and set up a trip wire. Then I took it down (I was worried about the neighbors), then I got the idea that I could make a landmine and stick it along a path the dogs used through this field, once again I got worried about an unintended target, and couldnt do it. It worked though, and was a pressure mine of sorts. It needed an aid to get the pressure correct but it functioned well. So simple I didnt even have to take the shells apart... and people worry about guns........... |

Several yrs ago, bought an English pellet gun from a guy.
Looks like a high powered rifle, heavy as heck, w/big scope. He was into bench rest TACK driving comp. I have a muskrat problem, 1 in back of head flips them over in the water. Feral cats in the park, knock them right out of the tree. Good 30-50 yard shots, love it. Park officer calls me for different problems w/vermin. Loads of fun. |
