Fear, Nobody can "create" a manic depressive person. Yes you can. It is very simple really, all you have to do is use psycological trauma at a young age. Bi-polar is the tricky one, that takes a lot of emotional abuse and neglect. Kids are alienated everyday from family, friends, and social events. Some go on and become the next Columbine or Virginia Tech, some get help and treatment and become productive members of society. This is how Manson's and Bundy's are created, with blissful ignorance to what can and has occured with the past. Kids don't become something out of right to passage, kids are taught what to be through parents. A bi-polar person has a chemical imbalance. |

I could care less. |

Bi-polar is no different, just about every psychological issue can be created through life just as well as it can be created in the womb. |

Doing drugs when your not sick is really sick Better quit with that caffeine then, worlds most widely used drug right there. Vitamins I'm sure are up there as well. |

"Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness."
"Bipolar disorder typically develops in late adolescence or early adulthood." "Most scientists now agree that there is no single cause for bipolar disorder—rather, many factors act together to produce the illness." Again, yes, a person can be born bi-polar. But as well someone can go through a traumatic experience in life and develop bi-polar just like any other mental illness. More than likely a person is born bi-polar, but a completly normal person can grow into it. http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/bipolar-disorder/complete-index.shtml |

Facts are facts, dispute them all you would like I didn't come up with them. E-mail the authors and tell them you have a background in psych and have never seen it created through life, I'm sure they will go back on the decades of studies and completly change it around for you... |

i somehow suspect that caffeine (which isn't a "drug" in 99.99% of the planet)
is very different when compared to pot (which is a "drug" and is illegal in most of the planet's countries) *sniff sniff* - i smell a logic fail |

It's not in my textbooks. Interesting. Funny, Fear, I used NIH on a pot thread and you said my source didn't count. |

The difference is in the research done on the substance and the amount of money that has gone into the research. No sniff here, I know my facts Mr. Logic. |

I like the NIH, Fear. They have a lot of facts from research on there.

I like the NIH, Fear. They have a lot of facts from research on there. They do indeed, but as I said some of them are biased in the direction. If a study starts out at a neutral perspective it remains that way until a conclusion, if the same study starts out with a conclusion already in the group(s) mind then the study will more than likely lean towards the already biased view. It has been the same since the 70's, people are taught something is bad and when they go to do research on the "bad" thing they already have it in their head it is bad therefore over-looking any good that the thing might entail. Which is why I like http://www.erowid.org/, because the results are from actual users and doctors alike. |
