Just because somebody is against gay marriage, does that automatically mean that person is a bigot?

Just because somebody is against gay marriage, does that automatically mean that person is a bigot? No I don't think so. It could be based solely on their religious beliefs, so that wouldn't make them a bigot. |

Hmmm tough question!
Me, personally, being a redneck hillbilly hick, I'm not against it. I have a sister who likes what she likes. I've always told her, "I like (Richard, or the shorter version D!ck), NOT Jane". |

Just because somebody is against gay marriage, does that automatically mean that person is a bigot? That's a tough question. I think it all depends on the person and if they speak of it with hate. I do believe you are right: From The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary: Main Entry: big·ot Pronunciation: \ˈbi-gət\ Function: noun Etymology: French, hypocrite, bigot Date: 1660 : a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance. You can be against such things without being blindly devoted to the point of hating/causing hatred against it. |

Being against gay marriage does not make you a bigot. However, refering to homosexuals as a "bunch of homos" in my opinion makes you a bigot.

no, its not the stand they take that makes them a bigot its the reasons behind it...

Uh uh,
Hating and being intolerant is a lot different than not agreeing. I do not agree with a lot of people but I dont hate them for what they think and I can certainly tolerate them. I have my beliefs and I respect yours. I am intolerant of Abusive people and sexual molesters. I just dont agree with same sex marriage. |

Very well said, tuck.
You took the words right out of my mouth..hehe! Although, I don't hate (hate is NOT in my vocabulary) my sis for what "she believes in". |

i think that some people who are against gay marriages, don't really oppose the union, but are rather hung-up on the term 'marriage' and feel that it can only be between a man and a woman.
i'd even go so far as to say that a person who doesn't accept, understand and/or even agree with a gay lifestyle, can still be fairly tolerant towards gays and lesbians. i wouldn't label those people homophobic in the least. |

Men, not a man
And whats your point? |
like whats written in scripture---woman was created for man and vise-versa...God did not intend for us to be a bunch of homo's exactly m8, God made Adam & Eve NOT Adam & Steve!! |
I believe there is one man for one woman...If people are attracted to the same sex then it is my place to make judgement
But this girl likes men and only men |
Besides gay people have the right to miserable in a marriage as strait people are
