The only way guys and girls can be friends is if they are both taken. If one of them is single chances are sooner or later something is going to happen. If the guy is around her age, good looking, and she likes to hang around him I would feel uncomfortable about it.

What an issue! My experience with this has taught me the same as my brothers have posted before me: A woman that needs a man for a best friend doesn't need to be in a monogamous relationship.
"Your husband or boyfriend is suppose to be ur best friend" All us men have a one track mind, SEX!!! You women need to learn that if a man shows interest in you, it's because he wants to do you!!! Why do you think we always have an issue with this... We men know how we all think...SEXXX!!! Get Real(;~} |

I hate to say it...thoeretically, it SHOULD be fine. But in my experience, it's not good in practice. Bad idea.

if he had this so-called 'best friend' that was a woman, but i had yet to meet her, or we never all got to do stuff together, i'd have a big issue with that.
it would seriously bother me if he was going out to dinner, watching movies, and/or just hanging out with her on a very regular basis, and i wasn't invited along on some of those 'dates'. |

Every situation is unique. I trusted my ex enough to never question her friendship with my ex best friend, now we're divorced. What lurks in the back of a mans mind, if he admits it or not is different than a womans, it's primal. How good a friend can you be without becoming attracted? If you get along that good wouldn't you be happy together? There are things a man would say to a female friend that he would not say to a man. Women listen and are understanding. Doing this brings you closer forming a bond. Not good for just friends of the opposite sex. I'm careful to only share my real feelings with the one I am with and not a good friend. Being a man, I want to be able to do man sh!t with my best friend, fart, burp, beat the **** outa each other when we drink to much, check out all the hot women around us and comment on them, ect. Being best friends with the oppisite sex I'll save for my special friend, the love of my life. I think that is so sad, just because you're of the opposite sex doesn't mean you have to sleep together. Otherwise, you're saying men are no better than animals who end up screwing their mom when they're in heat. There should be boundaries, there should be human decency. There should be more to it than, I'm a woman, you're a man, we get along, so let's go bang. Gross... I like to think humans are better than that. But whatever.... ![]() No, men don't want to screw their mothers! When a opposite sex friendship ends up in sex one half of the two is a woman that thought she was better than that. It happens. |

I am/was friends with a girl growing up that I was very attracted to. I fought the feelings for years because we had a special bond. I didn't want to ruin our friendship. Then, I went to basic training and when I came back to visit home two years later found out the guy she had started dating before I left had abused her and put her through a period of intense depression. Needless to say, I felt pretty horrible.

I wouldn't care if she is going to screw around she is going to screw around, what type of friends she has as far as there attitudes is probably more telling then there gender.

Here's the thing, if I had a guy best friend..... well, if I was interested in him wouldn't we have tried dating or at least talked about it? If it was unrequited love on either end, that does NOT a friendship make.
True friends must respect each other. |

I don't see a problem with it as long as they have been friends for a long time

So there doesn't have to be any other requirements to make a guy want to screw a woman who's supposed to be his friend? He has no preference for her age, race, weight, height, nothing at all, as long as she's a female and he's a male, he wants to do her? LOL, yeah, I still don't buy it, or least I don't want to buy it. Sounds pretty pathetic and desperate to me. But whatever.... |

only if he is gay Or is so ugly there is no way she would ever sleep(or have slept) with him! |

Here's my thoughts on this debate... I am friends only with people I'm attracted to, not physically, but by qualities. And with some people, that attraction grows or shifts or changes and a physical longing or attraction develops... Makes sense? |

makes total sense!!
my bf from when I was in like the 8th grade is a guy and he will always be my bf! you can't walk away from almost 18years of a friendship! I was married, he is getting married and I am in a relationship now and she understands there will NEVER be anything between him and I!! He is more like a brother to me!! So of course I see nothing wrong with it! |

I just know I have guy friends who I'm not attracted to at all, and I know it's mutual. So I can only speak for myself. |
