Thomas says: I'm on your side Lindyy I have answered these idiots questions and backed them up with facts and they still can't admit when your right. They even tried to convince me that the majority shouldn't rule when it comes to voting. We are dealing with your typical Liberals with mental disorders. I will be very happy to admit when you are right Thomas, let me know when you have posted some actual 'facts' that are actually correct, that aren't as insulting as your contempt for anyone that disagrees with you.... |

Well this was used in Bill clintons speech so believe what you want.
http://www.indegayforum.org/news/show/26857.html THIS IS TOUGH NEWS. It's not pleasant to hear," said former Education Secretary William Bennett on ABC's This Week Nov. 9. "But it's very important, and it's part of telling the truth." The occasion for tough-but-needed truth telling: Bill Clinton's first-ever presidential speech to an organized gay-rights group, the Human Rights Campaign. Clinton had conferred respectability -- wrongly -- on the gay quest for approval when in fact, said Bennett, he "should tell the truth on this one": Homosexuality "takes 30 years off your life." The average life expectancy for gay men, Bennett declared, was just 43. Many a mother's heart around the country must have sunk at that moment amid premonitions that she would outlive her son. A well-known public figure would think twice before delivering tidings that grim, right? And Bennett's statistic was no slip. Only days later, in the Nov. 24 Weekly Standard, he repeated the assertion phrased for maximum emphasis:"The best available research suggests that the average life span of male homosexuals is around 43 years of age. Forty-three." http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1417935/posts Dr. Paul Cameron, President of Family Research Institute, a Colorado-based think tank, announced today that a new study on the life span of homosexuals will appear in a 2005 issue of the refereed scientific journal Psychological Reports (Volume 96: pp. 693-697). This study provides additional evidence that the practice of homosexuality, with its attendant lifestyle, shortens the life of practitioners by about 20 years. "Obituaries have indicated that gays seldom reach old age," Cameron said. "Indeed, gay obituaries suggest that engaging in homosexuality costs participants between 15 to 25 years of life, suggesting that homosexuality is more dangerous than smoking or being fat. "Over 10,000 gay obituaries have been collected from homosexual publications. Are the obituaries listed in the gay press representative of gay deaths in general?" Cameron asks. A new study that compared them with Centers for Disease Control data indicates they are. The Washington Blade, a homosexual newspaper, has been the major homosexual paper used to track homosexual obituaries. So its obituaries for death due to AIDS were compared to AIDS deaths among males who had sex with males from the CDC for 1994 through 2000. Surprisingly, there was almost perfect correspondence. The effects of the new drug cocktails for AIDS were evident in both datasets. In 1994 the CDC put the average age of death by AIDS for homosexuals at 39, the Blade at 40. By 2000, the CDC reported the median age of death at 43 and the Blade at 42. Similar correspondences were noted for the 25th and 75th centiles of deaths. The CDC reported that 9% of heterosexuals who died of AIDS were at least 65 years of age. But less than 4% of homosexuals and IV drug abusers who died of AIDS reached 65. |

Taken from the government Center for Disese control website. If you don't believe them I don't know what to tell you
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/surveillance/resources/factsheets/prevalence.htm Growing Population Living with HIV Since CDC’s last estimate of HIV prevalence for 2003 (released in 2005), there have been several improvements to the national HIV reporting data set upon which these estimates are based. Importantly, data from ten additional states with reliable HIV reporting data have been added and extensive de-duplication efforts have been implemented at the national level. Based on this improved data set, researchers have also refined the estimate for HIV prevalence at the end of 2003. Results indicate that approximately 994,000 individuals were living with HIV at the end of 2003, and that HIV prevalence increased by approximately 112,000 (or 11%) from 2003 to 2006 (from 994,000 to 1,106,400 total persons). This increase was expected, due to the fact that antiretroviral treatment has greatly extended the life spans of people with HIV, and because more people become infected with HIV than die from the disease each year. Nearly half of all people living with HIV in the U.S. in 2006 (48%, or 532,000 total persons) were men who have sex with men (MSM)1. Among men, MSM accounted for 64% of those living with HIV. |

They say gambling is a tax people who are bad at math, and in Bennett's case as someone who admits to losing 8 million dollars in the casinos, it would seem doubly affirmed by his not doing the math on figures he took from Dr. Paul Cameron. The study was so statistically flawed that I think even Bennett himself later quietly recanted. The 'study' only sampled obits from three gay newspapers in large metropolitan areas. From a Slate article: "Cameron's method had the virtue of simplicity, at least. He and two co-authors read through back numbers of various urban gay community papers, mostly of the giveaway sort that are laden with bar ads and personals. They counted up obituaries and news stories about deaths, noted the ages of the deceased, computed the average, and published the resulting numbers as estimates of gay life expectancy. Illustration by Robert NeubeckerWhat do vital-statistics buffs think of this technique? Nick Eberstadt at the American Enterprise Institute sums up the reactions of several of his fellow demographers: "The method as you describe it is just ridiculous." But you don't have to be a trained statistician to spot the fallacy at its heart, which is, to quote Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistician John Karon, that "you're only getting the ages of those who die." Gay men of the same generation destined to live to old age, even if more numerous, won't turn up in the sample." Note also, Dr. Paul Cameron was defrocked by the A.P.A. for promoting such unscientific studies as 'facts'. -Kerry O. |

What does aids or life expectancy have to do with love? |

Over the past few months we have learnt of a number of reports regarding a paper we published in the International Journal of Epidemiology on the gay and bisexual life expectancy in Vancouver in the late 1980s and early 1990s.1 From these reports it appears that our research is being used by select groups in US2 and Finland3 to suggest that gay and bisexual men live an unhealthy lifestyle that is destructive to themselves and to others. These homophobic groups appear more interested in restricting the human rights of gay and bisexuals rather than promoting their health and well being.
http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/30/6/1499 ------------------ but as stated by the cute kitty above what does life expectancy have to do with the civil rights of anyone so seeing as smokers over eaters heavy drinkers high stress job holders and gays supposedly have a shortened life expectancy they as well should not have the same civil rights as others the civil rights are right afforded to all american citizens not just those you want to have them |

What is not welcomed, appreciated or tolerated is playing fast and lose with the facts, and getting resources from radical conservative groups who by design do not want gays to have the same rights as straights. Radical conservatives are hardly going to be empathetic on this issue, given their track record. What's painfully clear, Thomas, is that no matter what we say you will never see it from our point of view because you are incapable of doing so, period.
And I fail to see how any gay can see it from your point of view with out being expected to give up who they are as a whole. But again no one is asking you to be someone your not are they?. If one has unprotected sex one might very well not live long, that goes for straights as well, but you would much rather focus on gays. Again you are so obsessed with gays and wanting to be right, no one 'can' talk to you, other than those who believe what you believe. I would love to say I will miss you. |

Thanks for the welcome Minx and Cute.
My mother and step-father stayed with me and my girlfriend for a time and he took me aside and said he had never seen such a caring cooperative relationship between straight couples in his life and he is approaching 90. That was saying alot for a man that I had issues with as a child but it also made me feel sad. I personally think the way our society views men and women, and the fact that men and women try desperately to live up to the stereo types of how men and women should behave has a lot to do with why most relationships tend to fail. It's all about expectations, if you hold them too tightly you are doomed. But I don't want to go off topic here... Again thanks for the welcome. Boo |
