It's an election year full of lies & political partisanship... the libs only THINK they know & want everyone else to fall under their deceptive lies. It's no wonder why AmeriCANS are saying DRILL DRILL DRILL!!!!

Check this out:

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on
foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable . . . at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

'When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.' says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's financial analyst.

'This sizeable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years,' reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It's a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.' And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada . For years, U.S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves . . . and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight. And if that didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - because it's from TWO YEARS AGO, people!

U.S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World!

Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006 hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world is more than two TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005, President Bush mandated its extraction.

What the?

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

.. 8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
.. 18 times as much oil as Iraq
.. 21 times as much oil as Kuwait
.. 22 times as much oil as Iran
.. 500 times as much oil as Yemen - and it's all
right here in the Western United States

How can this be? How can we not be extracting this? Because we've not demanded Legislation to come out of Washington allowing its extraction,
that's why!

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East - more than two TRILLION barrels. Untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

Don't think 'Big Oil' will drop its price - even with this find? Think again! It's all about the competitive marketplace, and if they can extract it (here) for less, they can afford to sell it for less - and if they don't, others will. It will come down - it has to.

Got your attention / ire up yet? Hope so! Now, while you're thinking about it . . . Pass it on...

True or false I don't have a debate
We should answer the following questions

1 Do we need to find a replacement source to stop ruining the environment for ourselves and our innocent ones? Yes we are long over due

2 Is it wise to burn the finite resources available which is useful in making so many other things than just to burn it away? No it isn't wise we are long overdue.

3 Isn't it wiser to burn the Arab's oils first then holding the rest of them to ransom so they fall in line with us without bloodshed. Yes worth every effort. Then we can sell them new technology transport, new chemicals all kinds of oil based products and they would not have any resources . May be then they will come in line begging rather than dictating. And may be then we will transfer all that wealth to the West because they could not eat gold or drive gold.

4 Don't we need to be rid of dominance of few Major corporations who dictate us a lifestyle. Yes long overdue.

By the way alternative sources have always been available since sixties but the policy of this corporations has been to keep the world needing their stuff
At the end remember there were only finite dinosours whose bodies produced what we are burning now.

Why is everything you post slamming "the libs?" How can bipartisanship ever be reached with attitudes like yours?

No, I don't think 'Big Oil' will drop its price. They will gouge every penny out of us that they can. Free market? Look up "Oligarchy."

I think one of the biggest reasons not to tap our reserves is national security. Some day, and it may not be that long, the middle east will run dry, and we'll be sitting on pools of oil. Hopefully by then, we'll have transitioned off the earth polluting poisons and onto sustainable sources.

ITMT we have our OWN resources... it's too bad that the ones who don't do the heavy lifting or actually know all that goes on in the details of getting things done want to tell those who DO what to do. BTW... don't tell me they care about the POOR when they think we don't pay enough for fuel either. Enough said

2 Is it wise to burn the finite resources available which is useful in making so many other things than just to burn it away? No it isn't wise we are long overdue.

That's "INfinite thank you very much. Since we are already burning oil why should we get it from somewhere else? Do you want us out of the mid east or not? Can't have it BOTH ways. OOPS! don't look now but there goes that double speak.

3 Isn't it wiser to burn the Arab's oils first then holding the rest of them to ransom so they fall in line with us without bloodshed. Yes worth every effort. So who told you that line of hogwash? A DEM? LOL We should have been investing in Technology years ago...it's time to take them off the shelves & dust them off so we don't have to use oil longterm...Yu think?

4 Don't we need to be rid of dominance of few Major corporations who dictate us a lifestyle. Yes long overdue.

It's all about BUSH & Big oil...dontcha know anything? LOL It's about the auto industry & quite a few other biggies... I think we are going to see alot of things get done now. How many big stores have to go out of business BEFORE our arrogant politicans do anything. All the lobbying in the world by big C won't help if people stop buying. It has to hurt daddy warbucks before we get anywhere...unfortunately. I'll be around to say I told you so to all you people who think globalism & the UN were all that. They've been telling us what a boon it was going to be for us. That's the biggest laugh of ALL. So now do you believe me?

ah well...once we have our OWN oil they will have to sell at the lower price... if not we will have to wait out their irrational hatreds for a few more years. Won't we Mr. "I want out of the war on TERROR!"

You're certainly old enough to remember the original SNL, but I now realize you probably wouldn't have watched. There was a skit where Dan Ackroyd and Jane Curtin did a newsy "Point - Counterpoint." Jane would rant on and on and then turn it over to Dan, who would open with, "Jane, you ignorant sl**." Hilarious!

Anyway, if someone dropped cruise missiles on your house and killed your children, or a foreign occupier walked your streets, would your "hatred" of them be "irrational?"

As soon as DEMS & their crybaby masses get out of the way.

How about this...why don't you call the DNC hedqrs & DEMAND that they actually do something FOR us about the oil prices. Right now the only one doing anything is Bush... Let's make sure the legislation will help US & not the wealthy too. That should cross party lines.

I know a few "hilarious" things too...but I'm not suppose to make personal remarks... It's so typical of some to not want to follow rules...isn't it?

The flurry of drilling activity in the Bakken, coupled with the wide range of estimates of in-place and recoverable oil, led North Dakota senator Byron Dorgan to ask the USGS to conduct a study of the Bakken's potentially recoverable oil. In April 2008 the USGS released this report, which estimated the amount of technically recoverable, undiscovered oil in the Bakken Formation at 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels, with a mean of 3.65 billion.[11] Later that month, the state of North Dakota's report [12] estimated that of the 167 billion barrels of oil in-place in the North Dakota portion of the Bakken, 2.1 billion barrels were technically recoverable with current technology.

Wait, wait, I bet you know what Im going to say,

McConfused, while taking the NeoCon Bush's mirror position has called for removing bans that would permit more areas become available for Offshore Oil drilling. Even though Oil companies already hold leases on thousands of acres which they currently never pursue.
Now there is proof from a Gov study that McConfused following Bush's lead conviently choses not to mention to the public!
You judge, why do you think they would fail to mention this?

The projections in the OCS access case indicate that access to the Pacific, Atlantic, and eastern Gulf regions would not have a significant impact on domestic crude oil and natural gas production or prices before 2030. Leasing would begin no sooner than 2012, and production would not be expected to start before 2017. Total domestic production of crude oil from 2012 through 2030 in the OCS access case is projected to be 1.6 percent higher than in the reference case, and 3 percent higher in 2030 alone, at 5.6 million barrels per day. For the lower 48 OCS, annual crude oil production in 2030 is projected to be 7 percent higher—2.4 million barrels per day in the OCS access case compared with 2.2 million barrels per day in the reference case (Figure 20). Because oil prices are determined on the international market, however, any impact on average wellhead prices is expected to be insignificant.

Similarly, lower 48 natural gas production is not projected to increase substantially by 2030 as a result of increased access to the OCS. Cumulatively, lower 48 natural gas production from 2012 through 2030 is projected to be 1.8 percent higher in the OCS access case than in the reference case. Production levels in the OCS access case are projected at 19.0 trillion cubic feet in 2030, a 3-percent increase over the reference case projection of 18.4 trillion cubic feet. However, natural gas production from the lower 48 offshore in 2030 is projected to be 18 percent (590 billion cubic feet) higher in the OCS access case (Figure 21). In 2030, the OCS access case projects a decrease of $0.13 in the average wellhead price of natural gas (2005 dollars per thousand cubic feet), a decrease of 250 billion cubic feet in imports of liquefied natural gas, and an increase of 360 billion cubic feet in natural gas consumption relative to the reference case projections. In addition, despite the increase in production from previously restricted areas after 2012, total natural gas production from the lower 48 OCS is projected generally to decline after 2020.

Although a significant volume of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil and natural gas resources is added in the OCS access case, conversion of those resources to production would require both time and money. In addition, the average field size in the Pacific and Atlantic regions tends to be smaller than the average in the Gulf of Mexico, implying that a significant portion of the additional resource would not be economically attractive to develop at the reference case prices.
