Topic: Do Massages really work? | |
---|---|
My lower back has been bothering me for a long time. At first, I thought it was my spine, until I was laying flat on my back, decided to stretch, and then muscles tightened causing sharp pain in my lower back. I realized that I just have tense muscles.
But do massages really help and work? I had a massage before, but only 1 session from a girl who was a licensed massage therapist. She had very strong hands and it actually hurt. She was amazed how knotted my back was though, as if she never encountered such. Anyways, that's not important. Just wanted to know if massages actually helped anyone other than just feel good for that moment. |

Yes and there are Different types I like the Deep Tissue Massages. |

yes, they do. Of course, if your spine is out of alignment, it would cause muscles problems.

They help for a short while, but you have to treat the cause of the tight muscles as well. It might be poor posture, stress, too much exercise, or whatever. Once you have done that then you could actually enjoy an occasional massage rather than feeling like you were being tortured...

have you ever been to a chiropractor? They could help, especially if u have a disc out of place. And on massages, depends on the therapist...

If they have been knotted for a while you may need some myofacial release and pressure point therapy to unwind them good. These types of massage are not really pleasant, but the benefits are amazing. Most places that offer deep tissue and sports massages will offer both of these too.

absolutely. they are the greatest. it is important to get a good masseuse/masseur and get the right pressure and session time for you.
i prefer a vigorous massage at least 1/2 hr preferably 1 hr. if it is good - it will be sore the next day but will relieve greatly the pain and cramping. i usually don't get a pro one unless i have slightly pulled or strained something or have a cramp in my back. but they always work for me. many places will give steep initial discounts |

I got hurt in Iraq and there was a female docotr their that all she wanted to do was massage my back all the time. Im not saying I complained, but it still hurt. When I got back a Army chiropracter laughed about the massage, cracked my back about three times and that was it. Im not complaining about the massage, but I could have done with out the pain.
