My lower back has been bothering me for a long time. At first, I thought it was my spine, until I was laying flat on my back, decided to stretch, and then muscles tightened causing sharp pain in my lower back. I realized that I just have tense muscles. But do massages really help and work? I had a massage before, but only 1 session from a girl who was a licensed massage therapist. She had very strong hands and it actually hurt. She was amazed how knotted my back was though, as if she never encountered such. Anyways, that's not important. Just wanted to know if massages actually helped anyone other than just feel good for that moment. Deep tissue massages. They hurt like hell, but wow...what relief when they are done. Well, after the hurt goes away. The lady that did mine was a friend of one of my sons...she said I was knotted up, she would show them to people! I was moaning and yelling, but damn...it worked. yes, they do. Of course, if your spine is out of alignment, it would cause muscles problems. I think that is the problem too. I think I need to get an MRI |

There are about 3,769 different possible things that could be going on with your back...muscular, spinal, discs, vertabrae, nerves, any combination of those, etc. All are different and require different treatments.
I swear by my chiropractor and massage therapist. I was told at the age of 15 I would never walk again due to a horse back riding accident. I wore back braces off and on for 5 years. I was told at 21 that if I didn't have surgery I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 30. I can walk and out work anyone physically to this day and I truly thank my chirpractor and massage therapist for keeping me off the operating table and out of a wheelchair. Get a solid diagnosis, your back is nothing to mess with and only to go a reputable massage therapist and/or chiropractor. There are quacks out there and I had my share of them before finding the perfect ones for me! Good luck, back pain is no fun! |

Very much so, but I would also see a chiropractor as there could be something misaligned in your back causing the muscles to spazm in the first place. |

Well when I used to work for Nestle, they gave me a physical back in 2002. They said I have a slight shift in my spine, but they said I would be alright. I never knew what that really meant or the severity of it. |
