Abra, there are many liberal Christians such as myself.

There was nothing in my post that suggested otherwise.

My mother was a Christian. I never knew a more loving non-judgmental person in my entire life. And I'm not saying that just because she was my mother.

My mother had no vices that I'm aware of. Unless sitting on the couch doing crossword puzzels could be considered a vice. laugh

My mother, never smoked, never drank alcohol. Never swore! She wouldn't even use a word as mild as 'crap'. The closest thing I ever heard my mother say that could be considered swearing was "Oh shoot!", and she would even cover her mouth for that like as if she had said something wrong.

She was truly the most sinless person I even knew. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She didn't gossip. If she talked about someone it was always in a positive way. If she recogized that they might be doing something improper she would only say she hopes they find their way. She never suggested that they were intentionally being rebellious. She gave everyone the benefit of the doubt.

If everyone where like her there would have been no need for Jesus. If Eve had been like my mother we'd still be living in the Garden of Eden. bigsmile

mmmmmm interesting view from somebody who thinks that whole Bible is a mythical delusion, yet this same person is recognizing some value in the new testament.

very surprising.flowerforyou

Why should this be surprising. I totally support the moral teachings of Jesus. I always have.

I just view him as a mortal man and don't believe that he was sent by God to die as a sacrificial lamb to pay for our sins.

I don't deny Jesus (the man). I see him like another Buddha.

Why do so many Christians feel vindicated in judging others by the standards they are personally unable to meet?

The problem is that there are a lot of false Christians who use the religion to support bigotry and hatred.

Just because someone calls themselves a Christian doesn't make is so. Many people who claim to be Christians are really just hypocritical bigots who spit in the face of Jesus.

Even Jesus himself said that he will deny many who claim to know him.

You can't preach bigotry in the name of Jesus, it doesn't fly.

Such people are shallow hypocrites who do not know Jesus. They are pseudo Christians who use the Bible (mainly the Old Testament) to support their bigotry and hatred whilst spitting in the face of Jesus (the New Testament).

Nothing is more disgusting than a false Christian. ohwell

ok ok ok....gotta just say what i gotta say i guess.

my sister is a lesbian. she believes in God. she is no perverted maniac. she lives as any other "married" or "non married" couple would with her partner. both try to be good people and do right by others, they are loving, giving and very compassionate people.

as a christian, who am i or anyone else to judge? do i want to be the one to cast the first stone? no way!!! how many of us claiming to be christian are without sin? of course, we can find scripture in the bible that is against homosexual relations. but, how many scriptures are in the bible against other things/acts that we do?

has any one of you had pre-marital sex? adultery? lied? stolen? etc.... love one another....

as for the whole benefit thing...they pay taxes same as us "straight" people, the live in society right next door to us "straight" people, my sister has built her entire life with her partner. they have been together forever!!! if her partner, God forbid, was to pass, should my sister be screwed out of everything she has spent her entire life to build? NO! visa/versa!!!!

Abra, do you play all those instruments? Flute, piano etc?

Let's just say I play around with them. bigsmile

I can play scales on all of them, and some simple melodies.

I'm currently in the middle of rebuilding my piano. I have some piano lessons coming on DVD, but the piano is all apart right no. Hammers laying all over the place!

Have you heard any of my recordings?

Here's a song I wrote in Elvish and played on the guitar.

http://www.csonline.net/designer/ideas/leah.htm

Here's another one I wrote for an Cherub on these very forums.

http://www.csonline.net/designer/ideas/jenni.htm

I need to re-record both of these. I think I can sing them much better now. I recorded both of these basically the same day I wrote them. I've been practicing since then. smokin

Here's a flute and guitar duet I wrote. I can play both parts, but the recording here is a computer generated sound file from the sheet music program.

http://www.csonline.net/designer/ideas/flute.htm

I wrote this banjo/guitar duet too. Again, I can actually play both parts (that's how I wrote it  ) But this is a computer rendition of the piece (not me playing).

I might add that I wrote this piece as a tribute to Redy (the author of this very thread)

Until legislation is passed, gay couples should draw up their own contracts, put everything in each others names, get powers of attorney for certain things, legal custody papers for children etc. to satisfy the courts.

Prenuptials are used for strait couples, and gay couples should be no different. They don't really need the damn government or the Churches to dictate their lives to them. Nobody does.

I am against marriage anyway. It brings society and the government into your personal life. You don't need it if you just use your own contracts and partnership agreements.

As for social security, there probably won't be any left for the next generation anyway as they are giving it out to illegals from South America and they are about to go broke. Get your own retirement plans or plan to work until you die.

The other problems can be dealt with using personal contracts, and wills signed and notarized.

JB

P.S. "Sin" is only defined with religious doctrine." You cannot "live in sin." unless you are trying to live within that doctrine. If you are not a Christian, you cannot "sin."

"Sin" is disobediance of the Biblical God. If you do not follow that belief, the word "sin" is a moot point and meaningless.
