I had a conversation, the other day, with my mi amor about this situation. He pointed out that I 'read between the lines' and/or assume their is more to his words than there really is intended by him. I thought about his observation and realize that this is a learned defense mechanism due to past experience. Yes this is a good trait for me to have with my social work career, but when starting to get to know someone that I might have a relationship with isn't good.

I think it applies here. People read between the lines and assume that there is a motive behind the words or there is an intent to harm or there is more to the words than the words themself.

[ok, i dont know if that made any sense... too much energy this morning. btw hows your daughter doing?]
You made perfect sense, much more than you realize. You hit the nail squarely on the head.

My daughter..still struggling

words themself are just the delivery agent of thoughts and feelings, what matters is where they come from. If someone doesn't take time to understand, comprehend, or clarify then that's their issue not the person who delivered the words!

superior thoughts at work hereflowerforyou

ah quit it robert! blushing laugh

makes it witty a spoonful of sugar etc

I think the hardest thing when posting on a forum is just because someone is meaning one thing, doesn't mean every one is going to interpret it that way. And the main reason for this is because alot of it has to do with not being able to see a person's expressions or hear the tone of voice when they are expressing their views.

For example, I could say something to a person on here with intentions of trying to make them laugh, and because they can't see my expressions or hear the tone in which I meant it, they could take it the wrong way and think I was trying to say something hurtful or sarcastic.

yes, exactly.

And I personally do not use "LOL"; and I often omit the smiley; if I put the smiley in, it's like I am saying, see, it's a joke, you have to laugh at it; while I would rather pretend to be serious. To me it's funnier that way, but some people think I really am serious. and I have hurt some feelings that way without meaning to.

Ah. life is so complicated sometimes.
