I never got a bedtime story as a child either. A friend of mine in college had a great fav though. He would ask his roommate to "Tell me a story". His roommate would reply "F*@% you". His reply would be "That's my favorite...."

I don't remember any of them but I read to my kids. Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel, All the Beasus and Ramona books, The Little House on the Prairie books, The Secret Three. The girls are teen-agers now and they love to read, for fun. One thing I did right as a parent.
