I would rather someone really meant it when they said it. I would rather really mean it when I say it.
People take those important and special words too much for granted these days. Different folks fall in love at different times. What would be some appropriate ways of answering (rather than just silence) when you are "on the way", but just not quite there yet. What would be okay for you to hear? |

Of the rare (do note 'rare') times I've said it (once, maybe twice) I have always recieved a reply of "I love you too". And of the many (do note 'many') times it has been said to me, I only said it back once. Love is not a word I throw around nor do I believe others should throw it around. Exactly. Having been hurt one too many times, I would rather hear it when it is genuine. It makes it all the more sweeter when it is said. Sure it has made my heart ache not hearing it in return at times. If it is over the period in time where I feel it is appropriate. I will usually start re evaluating the person and the relationship to determine whether it is really right for me, despite my feeling "in love" with them. Yes, hurts like a *****, but better to end it sooner, rather than later, when the potential for emotional harm is greater. My fella' and I have exchanged "I Love You". I know he means it. I truly believe he knows I mean it, too. |

Everyday for over 11 yrs.
Know she hears me, I can feel her close by. Know she has watched over the kids with me. So I guess that is my answer. |

I have never said it to a man first, but I have found myself wanting to. There is nothing like the feeling of knowing you are loved. I think the men who have told me already knew I loved them.

In the past when strong feelings were starting to develop, I asked. What shows you, communicates to you that I care about you? Its easy to say it,but I want to know what tells you. I may think doing one thing is my way of showing her that I care, and shes waiting for something else.

Both ..
I will not say something considered sacred unless its meant. When I do say it you can know its real by action, emotion and my word. The people who have been special know that even if I dont say it at the same time they do that a hug and kiss can communicate as well. When I later spoke those 3 words they knew for certain it was meant from my heart. Sometimes we dont always share our words even if we may think we feel until we know without doubt then share. As far as true friends they know they are loved like family. Male and Female alike. Warmth, Understanding and communication is reserved for the special few who deserve it not everyone. |

ive not said it with no reply...but i did do this to jeff first time he told me, all i could do is look at him, i felt so badly, he had tears in his eyes and said he regretted saying it and making himself vulnerable. even though i felt it, those words are very difficult to say, so when i did say it to him out of the blue one day, the way his face lit up was priceless...

I am normally the one that doesn't respond because I dont say those words unless I mean them.
No normally I smile, thank them, or say how sweet... refuse just to say those words just to please someone |
