Got an email from a guy on another site. We did the back and forth email thing and then I gave him my phone #. Before he called, I had sent him 2 more emails. On this other site, you are able to find out if any of your emails were read. And it showed that he read them. Anyway, he calls me and we start talking and I asked him about the emails. He says he didn't get any from me and that he hadn't been back on the site since he last talked to me. First thing I thought was, OMG, I sent them to the wrong person so I didn't say anything more about it.

Well, we get to talking and he starts telling me things about himself that start to make me feel real uneasy. First he tells me that he is calling from the neighbors phone cause his phone is almost out of minutes, which is fine, no big deal. Then he tells me he is retired (he's 34), owns his own home, and his cars are paid for. But then he tells me that he doesn't have a real job but that he works odd jobs because it's hard for him to work an 8 hour shift. I ask him why, and he tells me that he is 6ft and weighs 350lbs and that it is hard for him to get around. Then he tells me that the vehicles he owns are both vans and that one is an '85 model and the other is from 1990. So I'm thinking, yeah they might be paid for, but you probably didn't give much for them either. So then he tells me he bought his house when he was 18, and when I ask him how he was able to do that he says he only paid $7,000 for it. Now I don't know much about the cost of houses, but I'm pretty sure a $7,000 house isn't much of a house. So now, my overall impression of this guy isn't looking pretty good.

So I get off the phone to double check about the emails and I did send them to him. So now I'm thinking, why would you lie about something as petty as that? So I send him another email asking him about it. He then calls and leaves a message saying that he is calling from another neighbor's phone and that the other neighbor that has the computer was the one that read his emails. I call that neighbor and they tell me that it wasn't them and that he is making himself out to be more then what he really is.

So here is my problem. I'm not going to pursue anything further with this guy but he is supposed to be calling at 3pm so what do I say? I don't want to be rude or hurt his feelings so I'm having a hard time figuring out what to say.

Any suggestions?
