I will give you the absolute, most positive, most definitely correct answer you can get:
It's a matter of personal preference. When two people's preferences match, no matter what age, and they're mutually attracted to one another in whatever way they consider relevant, then everything else makes no difference. And it really shouldn't, no matter what others say. Asking people on here about it will only give answers (and judgments) pertaining to their own view. You should take all that with a grain of salt... mine included lol. Welcome to the forum btw. |

Actually, I'll correct myself lol. I do have some experience of a catholic type religion. I was raised as a greek orthodox, which is very similar, yet not the same. Lol yes! And you haven't seen Christmas Mass! If you want a somewhat close image of my family, watch my Big Fat Greek Wedding. I'm not greek, but close. And my mom WOULD say "What do you mean you don't eat no meat? Ok then, I'll make lamb". Lol. |

I dont socialise much. And like you, I dislike speaking in front of the crowd even in a classroom when I was studying. It felt like you're melting like a candle....lol. Being observant gives me the chance to have an idea of this particular person or group, it keeps me from blending with hypocrites, back stabbers or just plain nuisances. That's definitely one way of looking at it Astrid! Lol, I just enjoy watching the drama. |

Blondey, found this interesting article on the views of the catholic church on divorce. The short of it is that under "special circumstances" a divorce is not a sin, but to remarry, a special annulment has to be dispensed: http://www.cdop.org/pages/AOfficeFamilyFAQDivorce.aspx Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on catholicism by any means. Other religions have similar or even tighter restrictions. In my mind, the biggest confusion is with fundamentalist christian religions, which consider divorce as a sin, just like stealing, murder and so on. It can be forgiven if you confess and repent, but to me, repentance means you intend to make things right, renouncing what you did... so, does this mean going back to your marriage? Makes no sense to me. That's exactly what my ex believes actually. Yup, for catholics it seems to be. I'm actually really curious to see if someone catholic on here can comment. I've studies a number of religions in my life, but I'll be honest and say that unless you actually practice, some of the information can be a bit confusing. As far as fundamentalist christian religions, I do have some experience. Here's another article that explains the baptist view (one of the largest fundamentalist religions out there): http://www.firstbaptistchurchclifton.org/Doctrinal%20Issues%20Page/Divorce.htm It too basically leaves the interpretation to the church. But really, all church doctrine is interpretation of text written a long time ago by people of a very different culture than ours in many ways. I find it interesting that scholars in every christian religion can pore over the same text for generations and come to different interpretations. To me, that just means nobody really knows. |

Oops, I was replying to Totage lol.
I understand what you're saying, but I think we all enter into marriage intending never to divorce... ok, there are exceptions lol. So that part is just basic understanding what marriage means. But repentance, true repentance, at least as described to me by our counselor (non denominational christian, which I'm assuming you are also), means redressing the wrong done, if possible. So, basically, what was explained to me was that true repentance would mean getting back together with my ex. As quoted, the New Testament is very specific on divorce basically not being an option unless very special circumstances. |

Same here Blondey. I used to be a bit of a party animal, but not much anymore. I was the class clown in school, and continued that tradition into my 20's lol.
But now, I tend to grab a drink or something, find a quiet spot, and people watch. |

Oh Blondey, what a good question.
I don't fall in the group you mentioned anymore, since I am no longer religious, in the organized sense of the word. But I want to say something that I think is relevant. I believe it's far, far worse to stay in an unhappy marriage then get a divorce. Every major religion touts the lessening of suffering (at least on paper anyway), so it would seem God would rather see someone divorce rather than continue suffering for all parties involved. But of course, some religions don't allow divorce except in special circumstances. My first wife still considers us married. In her mind, I'm just straying, and some day I will "come to my senses" and come back. I kid you not. The worst part is that she's had my daughter believe it all these years also. |

Looks good, succinct and to the point. Being male I can't tell you how it would attract another woman, but I don't see why not.

JT, I'm with you on this one buddy. Some of my happiest and funniest memories were about him (my grandfather). One of the things I regret the most was giving him so much grief when I was a kid. |
