Things definitely aren't built to last....... appliances used to come with a life time warranty. I think now it's a year and you pay for the rest, built with mostly plastic parts instead of metal. that's correct Sir.. I worked in the retail industry for many years and today their parts are not durable.. some remain metal but that's typically structure.. and yes.. years ago there were lifetime warranties.. then they moved to limited lifetime, now it's mainly 1 year only.. and today.. KitchenAid, Maytag and Westinghouse (to name just a few) are all manufactured by the same company.. and relative to my point earlier that companies are buying their competition while keeping the name brands separate, thus they create their own competition with all profits going to the one (or mother) company now.. |

I agree entirely with what you have said. In the past many things were designed and built to last, these days they are designed to a cost rather than to last. More recently, computers once had more features, now all add ons and upgrades, and no support after a few years. I remember my parents in the 1950/60s having things repaired at the local repair shop, these days when things stop working they are replaced, where electronics are involved parts are no longer available, obsolescence, some say that obsolescence is built in these days. . Most of the stuff is made in China so no spare parts anyway, we have become a truly a throw away society.
I find is staggering what some of these top people are paid, compared to the average persons income, how they justify it is beyond me. I am not against top people being paid top salaries plus all the perks that go with it, but when it is a 1000 times the average income is anyone really worth that amount of money. The way things are in the world, global warming in particular, I wonder what the future holds for the planet, billions spent by many countries on going in to space and to the moon, when not enough seems to be done in protecting the planet we live on, it's the only one we have if that goes we all go with it. This is very true.. as I've stated.. things today are built with "disposable" in mind.. sadly.. even our relationships seem less sustainable than in the past.. not that those relationships were perfect, far from it, but the morals and principles of old were more set in stone and followed than they are today.. yes, we have far more liberties and 'wokeness' if you will.. justifiably so IMO (we need to be more aware of those around us to better understand everyone's needs) however the thought that people are disposable (with the introduction of AI) is daunting and terrifying.. that we are no longer relevent is scary enough as we age.. but as a whole human race, is downright horrifying. and yes, factoring in global warming.. causing rising sea levels and loss of landmass.. the world is actually shrinking and it should scare us into having those serious conversations instead of "pretending" those issues don't exist.. the old addage that "the rich get richer while the poor get poorer" exists more prevalently today than when first circulated.. families are being robbed of what our generation took advantage of, 1 bread winner and 1 homemaker where all our needs were met without the necessity of having to work 2 jobs for each parent just to make ends meet without the chance of getting ahead.. moreso today kids are being brought up by external forces and morals as opposed to, when I was a kid, by our own parents thus creating much of the chaos and confusion our youth lives with today.. lastly.. I couldn't agree more.. that some are unjustly becoming stupid rich off the backs of those that make a mere pittance in comparison.. when those monies could be better invested in the actual workers themselves.. |

Just watched Marked for Death!! Ole Steven Seagal ....liked the action... you don't find that Steven Seagal looks somewhat like a robot when he acts/fights? I dunno.. he lost me a long time ago.. Maybe his newer movies...he has put on the weight and does not move like in his ole movies... I like his movies cause they are action packed ...and you dont have to think to much , just be entertained !! true.. his newer ones seem more robotic.. probably does have a lot ta do with his added weight.. and no.. none of his movies need much thinking if any at all and another reason why he lost me a long time ago.. I enjoy being entertained.. but I also want my cerebral cortex tickled too..

in my experience all the Taurus' I've known.. and I've known several close family'n friends.. have been very outgoing, opinionated, think they know EVERYthing, are argumentative, judgemental and VERY stubborn.. OMG.... I was married to a Taurus for 11 years and that is spot on the way he was & is...
At times would start an argument over stupid stuff.. And blow up like a bomb, yelling.... like that would make you want to listen to him more.. humm not.. yeah.. my son-in-law is a Taurus too.. so I hear ya gf.. totally bang on huh.. one moment, sweet as honey.. the next? WHAMMO, and yer like "what hit me?"
