When it come to tolerance in religion there no such thing. The reason is
because in the name of (insert any religion), people will justify any
cause that suits their agenda.
Examples: the Crusades were fought to recover the holy land, Palistines
and Isrealis fight over the right to Jerusalum which is a place of
religious importance to both groups. Catholics fought Protestants in
wars because of slight differences in practices and beliefs. Sunni and
Shia Muslims fight each other because one group doesn't recognize the
secession of religious leaders of the other.

People should be weary when someone says "God wants us to (insert blank
here)" because it only creates a cause that has no rational
justification.

Ego is Greek for the word I. If you want a better understanding of the
work read Ayn Rand's "Anthem." Hmm... read yeah right, more of the
people on these threads would rather burn books than read them!

I found your post interesting but after reading the article you
mentioned I found it lead the reader to be dangerously indifferent to
climate change.

For those who haven't read the article here it is and please read it so
you get the feel of the way it's written....

http://www.wecnmagazine.com/2007issues/may/may07.html.

I read the article and yes, yes, I agree that the earth cools and heats
up. The thing is the guy flip flops. Quote the article

"Almost 40 years ago, Bryson stood before the American Association for
the Advancement of Science and presented a paper saying human activity
could alter climate."

But later the article quotes him saying:

“All this argument is the temperature going up or not, it’s absurd,”
Bryson continues. “Of course it’s going up. It has gone up since the
early 1800s, before the Industrial Revolution, because we’re coming out
of the Little Ice Age, not because we’re putting more carbon dioxide
into the air.”

*Note to readers that global temperture records started in 1856
Also note that industrial revolution began in Britian in 1760 and around
1830 spread to Belguim and France. The American industrial revolution
started around 1860 about the time the U.S. civil war started.*

In the article there an exchange between the expert and the interviewer
where the interviewer asks a 2 part question, the expert answer that
with his own question and then answer his own question. As follows....

Q: Could you rank the things that have the most significant impact and
where would you put carbon dioxide on the list?

A: Well let me give you one fact first. In the first 30 feet of the
atmosphere, on the average, outward radiation from the Earth, which is
what CO2 is supposed to affect, how much [of the reflected energy] is
absorbed by water vapor? In the first 30 feet, 80 percent, okay?

Q: Eighty percent of the heat radiated back from the surface is absorbed
in the first 30 feet by water vapor…

A: And how much is absorbed by carbon dioxide? Eight hundredths of one
percent. One one-thousandth as important as water vapor. You can go
outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide.

*Note to reader the guy change the question to what he wanted to anwser.
That a political talk to change the dymanics of a question, or as I call
it "poli-tricks."

*Also note that most of the atmosphere (80%) covers 10 miles distance
from the earth where the guy only mentions a measley 30 feet. To give
you the bigger picture there are 150,900 feet in 10 miles.*

I didn't read all the other replies but I once heard from someone that
after Jesus died he descended into hell to save the souls of good people
like Adam and Eve before reserrecting. I know that there different
interperations of bible teachings so don't all attack me!

Evolution is stupid? I KNOW people who take Bible accounts as fact are
stupid.
The Bible is a collection of stories that try to explain the world the
best people could back then. It's base on obversevations of the
surroundings. People back then believe in a many gods that controled the
force of nature. In greek mythology a god call Zeus, who control the
rains, thunder and lighting saw the earth had wicked people on and he
decided to cleanse it in a flood. Coincedently he only left a good,
humble and honest man and his wife survive the flood. Does this story
sound familiar?

The Bible teaches people their relationship God and how to treat other
people, it does not scientificly explain the environment around them The
Bible shows moral truth not fact.

CrazyJ I'm suprised that there wasn't a MYTH/FACT statement on whether
or not marijuana triggers schziopherina in teenagers. There have been
corralation of marijuana use and schziopherina. Some say that marijuana
use increases the risk of schziopherina others say people who may become
schziopherinic are attracted to the drug.

Also I've heard that marijuana has more tar and poison that a cigertte.

Another thing you did post a source for your information. For all we
know your source isn't based on sciencitific data at all.

here... religion and politics are bad topics for dates.... unless of
course she agrees with your political view.

"My point is that ALL parties are using government money to further
their political agenda. And have been for a long time."

Ok, ok you can't trust politicans wherther it's Republican or Democrat.
They're both "evil." But tell me: wouldn't you choose the lesser of
those two "evils?" Or would you rather isolate yourself from progress
all together?

I love that this thread has become a "war thread" when this was
originaly about the abuse of the office, and taxpayer money, to further
political gains. I seem that any to do with the political problems of
the Bush administration that conservates rush to defend the war.

Thank you Ocean! I remember back before the '04 election I argued with a
friend that I was going to vote for Kerry because in my and many other
know "Bush is an idiot." And my friend who said he would vote for Bush,
didn't defend Bush's intelligence but said "He a puppet for Cheyenne."

In WWII a Nazi propagandist say that if you repeat a lie enough time the
people will eventually accept it. Poetnartist,
you my friend have blinded yourself to the realities of this war. It
seems ingorance is bliss for those defending Bush.

AdventureBegins the whole story isn't about the miltias but of refugees.
It seem your more interested in your defense of the war than the reason
we actually went to war. What was the war called? Operation Iraqi
Freedom? With educated Iraqis fleeing the country the Iraqi gov't loses
human infrastructure nessary to strength the Iraqi gov't and secure
stability.

Poetnartist I know this is hard to accept but George Bush Jr is not
George Bush Sr. Sure they look alike but one is actually older and 500
times more intelligent than the one currently in office.
