Hi,
I was wondering if there were many Ausssies, based in Oz, who actually read stuff in this forum? Geoff |

Hi,
It may help if you actually put some information as to what you are looking for in a relationship. What is your time frame? Women like to match their dreams and esires. If you are a bland canvas they will pass and go onto the next dude. What you have put there is safe and about the same as a couple of thousand othere blokes. |

As we get older we get more fussy. Our experiences leave us with a lot of "dont wants". I guess you have to keep enjoying life rather than pursueing a woman like some safari or buying on Ebay.
Women are not a commodity. If you attract a woman, they will choose to be with you because of who you are, the way you behave and the way you treat them. You are not buying a car! It is not generally your looks that put women off. It's what is between your ears, in your heart and your soul that attracts them and KEEPS them wanting to be with you. You will not be connected with some ball and chain or shackles but by this mythical inner spirit called love. Give more than you expect to receive. |

Make sure you have a sense of humour. Learn to laugh at yourself. Give of yourself more than you expect in return. Get out there and do stuff. Sport, dancing, craft, gym, church and dont appear like the desperate who is there to pick someone up. Just be there to enjoy yourself and it will happen.
Get the body into shape then you will have more confidence. Ditch the glasses for contact lenses if you can bear them. Go to the better end of town charity shops and pick out so really good named brands. This is better than buying junk new. You cant sell a secret. |

I wonder how I fit work in sometimes. As it is I have cut down to 20 hours week to fit my social life in. There are still things I want to do and cannot seem tpo find the time. Must go havent had dinner yet.
Retirement will be exciting and a busy schedule. I can travel all over Sydney for $2.50. The tourists pay thousands to come here. SO much to do and see. |

Charlie Chaplin and Rod Stewart got younger women but they were rich. Mere mortals have to reign in their expectations.

Metalwing,
Your comment brought to mind Dustin Hoffman in Accidental Hero. He was telling his son that life was bullsh*t. You just have to find the level of bullsh*t you're happy with and live your life. I once worked with a business development manager who was an introvert but had to pretend to be an extrovert to do his job. Must have cost him a fortune in therapist fees later in life. The profile has been changed. Everything there is honest. I should have gone to that sales course but I was busy. |

Hi,
Can I attach some screen dumps somehow to illustrate? Yes you are right about the incorrect entries I have one lady who described herself as in Sydney but is in Woolloongong two hours drive south of here. I changed the radius to 50 miles becasue I suspected the database. One example is when I do a search and then select the location besides a persons name it appears the search brings up a raft of people outside the search criteria and there is no way to do a refined search. The Advanced Search doesnt appear to take into account the Radius. |

Hi PacificStar48,
Thanks for the wake up call and being so honest. I must admit I was kinda pouring it out after a few glasses of red. I havent done this before so be kind on a newbie. I shall go and edit it straight away. Perhaps you will have another look in a few days time. As for the digs at Australian women it wasnt meant to be condescending. There are some that just dont try nd some who try too hard. OK I am conservative but I am not going to be dishonest. Cheers. |

10 Reasons Not to Jog

I know plenty of people who play sport and they always seem to carry injuries? Is this to give the air of an active person without having to really do anything? The all seem to have the $300 pairs of joggers whereas I get by with a $50 pair. Perhaps that satisfies their alta ego.
How many sets of gym equipment do you see by the roadside for a council pick up? There as cheap as chips on Ebay if you want one. How many people have lapsed gym memberships, now be honest. |

I am taking my own advice. During my immediate period of grief I put on 19Kg (41 lbs). I am now working on getting rid of that unwanted fat with eating better and more exercise. I am also getting a haircut regularly as my son commented that I looked like Albert Einstein. Not much I can do about the baldness, its genetic and I have had that condition since I was 21yo. I tried contact lenses but could not handle that so am stuck with seeing eye glasses. Anyting else you would like to add would be appreciated and i will not take offence at honesty.
I thought you ladies might like to offer suggesions as to what a man should do to smarten up? Here's what I thnk: 1) Make sure your body odour is not a problem. Not that you can tell on line but it is a game breaaker. Ask your mates as sometimes you cannot smell your own odour. Ask the pharmacist. 2) Get a haircut 3) Trim those extra pounds. What you eat instead of putting in the waste goes to your waist. Stop buying biscuits, cakes and sweets then it is harder to eat them. 40 Care more about the other person than yourself 5) Get a recent photo 6) Dont lie!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7) If you are attracted to a woman who may be younger compliment her but dont lear unless there is a response. Be genuine. 8) Be a better listener than a talker 9) Be patient 10) Dont lie!!!!!!!!! Over to you folks. |

10 Reasons Not To Jog –
1. My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 now & we don't know where the heck she is. 2. The only reason I would take up jogging is so that I could hear heavy breathing again. 3. I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to show up. 4. I have to exercise in the morning before my brain figures out what I'm doing. 5. I don't exercise at all. If God meant us to touch our toes, he would have put them further up our body. 6. I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. 7. I have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them. 8. The advantage of exercising every day is that you die healthier. 9. If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country. 10. I don't jog. It makes the ice jump right out of my glass. |

Perhaps I was spoilt as my late wife was 60 but looked 40-45. She took great care of her appearance, always looked feminine and dressed well. There is no such thing as an ugly woman but there are lazy ones.
Some of the photos on the website are surely not the best that a person could post in their profile? I dont mean they should deceive and put up something from 10 years ago but frankly some scare me. Cutting your hair short may be more convenient when raising kids and running a family home but only a few women can carry it off as appealing. You do not have to have flowing locks but a styled hair cut is your best fashion accessory. please dont overdo the make up, that can be scary and not a turn on. When havng a photo taken smile. I know you may have been through tough times in previous relationships but dont let everyone know that day one. Ease them into it and they may help you through the trauma. A picture tells a thousand words. |

Hi,
I have used the search criteria and set it to 15miles from where I live. Yet I get searches back from all over Australia? Some 3000miles away? I have used the advanced search and get fewer results but many are still outside my area. I set the criteria to non smokers and I get profiles who smoke occassinally? Am I doing soemthing wrong or is the database for Australia corrupted in some way? |

Why not broaden your horizon and look to the northern part of Sydney. Its only an hours drive outside rush hour. It takes that long to get in the centre of Sydney from here and then you have to find a park.On top of that the prices at restaurants have become ridiculous. Apart from that the fishing and beach walks are better on the Central Coast.
I would travel that short time to see someone. |

I agree but it is understandabe. There are a lot of women that are separated or divorced that are doing it very tough. They are left with the responsibility of the kids, probably struggling financially and perhaps having self doubts. Then along comes a friend and encourages them to list on this website. They do it without enthusiasm as they have no confidence in men having experienced deceipt, bad treatment, lack of caring etc etc.
I am a widow and am lucky in respect I have years of happy memories to look back on. My wife was taken from with cancer and there is nothing I could do. I miss having someone to care for, love, protect, provide for and enjoy life with 24/7. So if there are any Aussie women out there in Sydney who want a genuine friend send me a message. We may not get together but we could have a few laughs along the way at this dating business. Well you have to laugh dont you? Sometimes its a bit like buying on EBay. Your expectations are up and then down again. You look forward to a a message as the adrenalin rushes as if you won something. |

I know what you mean. A younger relative who is recently divorced found a co worker on a dating website. He was married with three kids. What a jerk.
