my youngest has special needs; high functioning autism and bipolar disorder. he's very stable and making significant progress but the highest level of functionality his doctor's and i have for him is a group home situation. i've accepted that and am ok...now. i wasn't always ok with it; it just took some getting used to. however, he's beginning to show greater progress at 14 (15 next month OMG) than we expected at 18ish so perhaps our estimation of his adult functional capacity is not giving him credit for all he is capable of achieving. I hope so. It would be beautiful for him. Yes, this is the same child I posted about today trying to get out of staying at school today LOL

I don't have it in my profile and tend to save it for something a bit later in a relationship before breaking it to folks. So far, guys have been pretty accepting. Although, I've not found Mr. Right but it had nothing to do with my child's issues. I just kind of think something of that nature can be a bit overwhelming in trying to get to know a new person and potential SO. If a person has potential then I bring up the topic. If they don't then I don't pursue it and can avoid putting the poor soul through the shock and trying to find a way to say they aren't interested without having to say OMG your kid is too much for me :)Mostly it just saves me the heartbreak of it all. All in all, I've found women are more critical/unaccepting of my child than men.

my 14yo is at school and is telling them all sorts of crap gaining multiple trips to the nurses' office. it appears to me and the nurse there that he's making it all up, wanting to come home. "I feel like I'm out of my body, the room is moving..." crap like that. I had her take his BP, it is FINE. His temp and other vitals are NORMAL. He ate bfast but had her give him a snack, *just in case* his glucose levels were low. He looks just as normal as he always does. He *does* have a history of migraines and while what he's describing matches *MY* migraine aura profile, it does not match his bigsmile and although his could be evolving, he's complained of no headache, albeit entirely possible to have aura only, but we've given him tylenol prophylactically so who knows. I talked to him and he *sounds* just fine. So, told him if he came home sick, there'd be no tv for the rest of the day - sick people need to be in bed not watching tv. If he came home and I could tell he wasn't sick, he'd be doing chores the rest of the day. Told him he'd have 30 minutes to lay in the nurses' office to 'feel better' then needed to go back to class. The nurse loved the idea ROFLMAO. Reminded her that she was free to voice her opinion to me if it looked like a total fake job and to put it in his file if she wanted for future reference...

Now, the lil sh*t needs to get back to class!

I don't date people I work with either. It's a big enough place were I to meet someone from another department but my department is rather exclusive so that's terribly unlikely. That aside, THEY'RE ALL MARRIED or just not 'on the list of possibilities' if ya know what I mean. Could it work out, ya I suppose so but it would be tough and if it didn't work out, it would be all those things you mentioned. OTOH, what if you missed out on *the one* just because you happened to work with him/her?

I think if it weren't for the orthodontic bands and wax, lipstick, powder for makeup touch ups, epi pen, keys, breath spray, tide to go, and about 5 other things I could live without a purse, too! I'm *almost* there, aren't I??? ROFLnoway noway
