If I feel alone, I turn to the Bible for inspiration. Read a few Psalms. They can work wonders.

I like the big sneeze theory best.
I heard Hal Lindsey put it well the other night. He said your view on the Universe's origin is more colored by your moral choices than science, really. I thought that was a pretty decent view. Figure that if you don't buy the God put it there bit, you probably don't buy the rest of it either. But I coud be wrong. Just my opinion and here's two cents, eh? Geo. |

I heard voices a couple of times. Last time was 36 years ago, so it's not too often. Nowadays, the spirit speaks to me as I read the word and listen to people speak to me at church, on the radio, on TV or whereever.
It's important to read the word. That's where you'll hear God's voice most, I think. It works for me, anyway, and reading a few Psalms a day gets me a lot of encouragement. If you haven't tried it before, I'd recommend it highly. Take five a day for best results. Geo. ps: I like to talk back, too. I think God talks to us via his word and we talk back to him via prayer and praise. |

LDS and FLDS
|
|
Been checking out the LDS thing lately. I went to a service today, a "Sacrament Meeting." I saw my nephew initiated into the Aaronic Priesthood. Very interesting. The people there were very warm and friendly and the Bishop gave me a copy of the Teachings of Joseph Smith.
I have read the tripple over the last few weeks (The Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrines and Covenants) and the assocated writings: intros, covenant of faith, etc. We sung "Joseph Smith's First Prayer" (It's in my Gospel Principles book, which I've read, cover to cover), and "Come, Listen to a Prophet's Voice." Very interesting. I attended a Gospel Principles class and a Quorum meeting after the Sacrament Meeting. It was all very interesting. I like the doctrine of opposites, the passing of authority down the chain of command, the understanding (sort of) of God's salvation, the love shown, the atmosphere of service, the evidence of fruit of the spirit in the church, the heavenly Father (not teh Heavenly Father, get it), the fellowship, the good-heartedness, the family-home-evening concept and the charisma of the people in the church. However, I DON'T agree with the doctrine. I don't believe in premortal life or that there was a Grand Council or in Celestial, terrestrial, and telestial heavens, in hymns praising mortal men, in marriage sealing and the standard works. I've met with my local missionaries a couple of times. One's a nice guy, the other isn't so nice. I'm gonna meet them again. We're on for Saturday, but I'm gonna have to reschedule due to work commitments. Mormons are nice people. I worked with a couple of Mormon officers during my time in the Army and they were both very dedicated to their families. Polygamists? Yeah, the FLDS was and is. The other branch of the church ain't, but most people don't know squat about the Mormon church or their scriptures. Polygamy was part of the doctrines for some 60 years, but that part of it was rescinded. The Prophet had revelations that it wasn't the right way to go any more, and I agree. Polygamy was tolerated in the Old Testament Times, but the book of Acts says that God permitted some things to go on in times of ignorance, but now that people know better, such things should not be done. Gotta take wives where you find 'em in the midst of a stinking desert, I guess. It used to be harder to bear and keep children, I think. Today, I read that Joseph Smith had 11 kids but only four to six of them actually survived. I imagine it was quite rough in times past. God Bless my LDS brothers and sisters. Sorry if you get offended when people go crazy about the Polygamy thing. It's mostly ignorance, I think. Geo. |

When I walk it's two miles. A mile around the block and then a mile around the track with the pooch. Gotta work tomorrow. That'll get me some exercise, I guess. Maybe I'll hit the Y after work. That'll be my dessert!

So what'd you do for the workout today? I walked a mile on a treadmill, then ran/jogged two a day or two again. Knees hurt today. I'm gonna have to go back to walking on the track before I hit the treadmill, I guess. And my new orthotics aren't working well either, I reckon.

I'm still fricking hurting. I need the darned pills. I hate the darned things. But, they keep me from hurting so bad. It's not that the hurt stops, it's just that once I get enough medicine in me I don't CARE about the hurt any more, you know?
