Thanks abracadabra for that view point although I would have to disagree with the most part. I assume you know I would. lol. No man is an island. You sound like you're isolated from the world and all that it dishes out. Human suffering is inevitable & so is death. And if you're not fearful of death, then why do you eat, why do you take care of yourself, why do you work, why are you on here making human connections?Yea you need human connection or support. You wouldn't be on here if that wasn't true. and who created people & you. Your mom & dad? then who created them? Grandparents? the list goes on the the first couple. Who created them? It's often times difficult to understand there must be a starting point, the creator. It's like looking a newly built home; who done the first work?
Surely some people handle crisis better than others but it comes down to a tramatic event no matter how it's handled. If people have been dying for eons and there should be no fear, why don't everyone walk out in front of a Mack truck? Life is precious & it's human nature to hold on to every minute of it. Prolonged agony could be the patient with 3 mos. left to live & ends up lasting 3 years in the worst kind of pain imaginable. Having an intervention is like having the power of positive thinking. Prayer is that positive thinking. Prayer can change things. You're not really sure if GOD answered your prayer. HE may have but not in your fashion or timing. HE has a whole world to see about & what you do & what happens to you has to coincided with HIS plan. HE will make it work. Abracadabra, I think it only human nature not to accpet things I have no control over; especially the not so good. I didn't want the World Trade Centers to be terrorized & collapse but it happened. I don't like war but it happens. I don't want any child born with birth defects but it happens. So, I turn to someone who has more power than I do. If I gave you examples of an intervening GOD would you believe then? The governor of Georgia called his staff and the state to pray for rain because they are drought striken. 3 DAYS later, rain came. They're still in a drought depression but I see GOD working. YOu might call that coincidence but I call it answered prayer. I'm not critizing your belief system. If it works for you, I don't see you changing your views but if it doesn't, wouldn't you want to know an alternative? |

I would suggest call her, tell her your concerns in a non-volatile tone & explain you love your son & if she loved him, she wouldn't want to cause him any pain. Making her your friend will ease tensions & turn the son off to her, I think anyway.

You & your daughter & all of your circumstances are in my prayers. Stand on this scripture, Psalm 55:22 "Cast your burden on the LORD, & HE will sustain you; HE shall never permit the righteous to be moved." May HIS peace cover you with strength to endure all. GOD bless

Peace to you twisty and thanks for replying & giving me insight. That's all I was looking for. I have to agree with you about religion; people get out of hand with it and believe it or not, JESUS CHRIST came against religions & it was they who crucified HIM. But I'm sure that doesn't interest you, twisty and thanks again for believing in a higher power.

Thanks for your input Miss Debbie. I didn't think anyone was on. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. It's hard to go on after losing someone you love. So where did you turn when you lost your mom? Do you believe in GOD?

Gosh, twisty, I wasn't labeling anyone. I just want to know where do people go in times of crisis that do not believe in GOD. I didn't mean to rub you wrong and I don't thump my bible, I read it.

Just out of curiosity & to keep an open mind on things; where do nonbelievers turn in times of crisis? Scenario: you've just been diagonsed with a terminant illness with 3 mos to live or your child has just been in a tradgic life threatning accident. Does Karma come into play here and you cast it to the wind? What or who helps you get through it?

I'll stand with you in prayer, Kat. Please remember that worry does no good & makes you ill. 1Peter5:6-7 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under GOD'S mighty hand, that HE may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on HIM because HE cares for you."......I know it's difficult during times like these but it is the best time to do it. GOD be with you.

Hey Rabbit, Happy Sabbath to you & may GOD bless you abundantly. I want to thank you for reading more of the bible, in which is the sword of GOD and knowing it pretty good. I'm not sure what belief system you have but quotes from it are few. Perhaps you could share with us a comparison with the bible & the book you believe in? I have entered a parable you might enjoy.
I'm not supposed to give these away,” the young man said, handing me a display Bible, “but I sense you should have this.” I shrugged and absently tucked it away. We had a Bible at home. I'd only stopped by the Gideon’s table because nothing else at the Iowa State Fair was set up. A few days later I was walking to town when a car pulled up beside me. “Get in,” the driver snarled, pointing a gun at me. I did as he said. Soon he pulled over, grabbed me and tried to force me down on the seat. I struggled with all my strength. Finally he ordered me out of the car. Before both my feet were on the ground, I heard a shot and felt a sharp pain in my side. I collapsed, and the man came around the car. He picked up my purse, took out my wallet then threw the purse on my head and shot it. I felt a dreadful impact. Still conscious, I lay silent, hoping he would think I was dead. I heard the car drive away, and I stumbled to a nearby farmhouse. A woman called for help, and the police were closing in on the drug-crazed driver based on the description I'd given them. At the hospital, just before I went into surgery to remove the bullet in my side, my sister came to see me. “Do you know what saved your life, Mavis?” she asked. She handed me the Bible that had been in my purse. A bullet was lodged inside, its tip stopping exactly at Psalm 37:14-15: “The wicked draw the sword, and bend the bow...to slay those whose ways are upright. But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.” This is what it means to know the voice of God. The young man wasn't supposed to give away the Bibles, but he “sensed” that God wanted him to give the Bible away to this lady. He probably thought that she would open the Bible and read something that would turn her life around, or bring her closer to the reality of God. But the sword came first, and then certainly a peace that only comes from God; the reality of His protection made manifest by those who “sense” His will. |

Bible quotes are great but you have to read before & after to get the meaning of the quote. Anything can be taken out of context to be used to whatever your desire is. You're living proof.

Like I tried to say before I could agree with your conclusion that someone in the situation you explained could forsake ones self. However that only gets you back to a point I was making not all the way back to the original statement. I do not believe this is how Jesus is using the words. So I might agree with you if you agreed that Jesus in that case would be saying that he is upset about his situation. He does not think he should have to go through it.
I don't think that would really prove anything, rabbit. John 3:12 has you pinned like this; "If I have told you earthly things & you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things." JESUS' quote of course. |

I think you're having a bi-polar moment, rabbit. You have it backwards...dah...it's the child asking the mother why do you give up yourself for me or as the case may be, JESUS asking the Father...but lets see how hard you can work on not believing & misdirecting.

You always hear the usual stories of pennies on the sidewalk being good luck, gifts from angels, etc. This is the first time I've ever heard this twist on the story. Gives you something to think about.
Several years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend at the husband's employer's home. My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend. The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the waterway, and cars costing more than her house The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live. The husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely. As the three of them w ere about to enter an exclusive restaurant that evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband. He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment. Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny. He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure. How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny? Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up? Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it no longer. She casually mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value. A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before! What was the point of this? "Look at it." He said. "Read what it says." She read the words " United States of America " "No, not that; read further." "One cent?" "No, keep reading." "In God we Trust?" "Yes!" "And?" "And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin. Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him? Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray, I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment. I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him. For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me. Lucky for me, God is patient and pennies are plentiful! When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change. I read the words, "In God We Trust," and had to laugh. Yes, God, I get the message. It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful! And, God is patient.. The best mathematical equation I have ever seen: 1 cross + 3 nails -------- 4 given |

Like anyone else, you guys are entitled to your own opinions. In fact you should go as far to say we should fight al quada on our land. Turning the other cheek doesn't mean lay down & die.
and this has nothing to do with the original thread which was about GOD forsaking JESUS or HIMSELF. another misdirection to avoid the obvious.lol |

Yea, Rabbit, our beliefs go so far as to say, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you..."Luke 6:27 but I'm sure your beliefs portray better results for peace in this world?

Psalm 51:5 "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother concieved me." It's always best to read the verses before and after in drawing a conclusion but in my opinion or interpretation, we were born with sin.
