Dear Barry

This letter is almost a true story but has been edited from the original version that appeared as a letter to the editor published in 2009 in the Jackson Mississippi Clarion Ledger.
Anyway, you could take his argument a bit further and say: Anybody who is overweight and smokes is costing me money. It doesn't matter if they are covered by Medicaid or covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield....you are costing me money. It may be in the form of taxes I pay or in the rising cost of my health care premiums, but you are costing me money. |

Wal-Mart employs more people than any other company in the United States outside of the Federal government, yet the majority of its employees with children live below the poverty line. "Buy American" banners are prominently placed throughout its stores; however, the majority of its goods are made outside the U.S. and often in sweatshops.
Employees on average take home pay of under $250 a week. The salary for full-time employees is $6 to $7.50 an hour for 28-40 hours a week. This pay scale places employees with families below the poverty line, with the majority of employees' children qualifying for free lunch at school. This amounts to a form of corporate welfare, as the taxpayer subsidizes the low salaries. One-third are part-time employees - limited to less than 28 hours of work per week - and are not eligible for benefits. If Walmart ran the USA, we would resemble the Chinese laborers in no time. |

Obama Hard At Work Again!
|

President Obama has fixed the economy, brought the DOW back up to 14,000, fixed the housing market, ending the wars, and killed Osama Bin Laden.
I think he has earned a golf outing with Tiger Woods. Quit whining! |

Working every day? 12 hours a day? No days off?
I am not sure how you could expect anyone to stay in that relationship.....if you could even call it that. |

that someone can sneak into another country take out a major figure head and get out of that country alive but yet can't figure out a way to get a job or health care in their own country presents a wealth of information to the enemy on how to devise counter measures on how to deal with seal tactics on a pyschological level and even find them perhaps what some of the seals are doing by going to the media and writing books is actually seals tactics to confuse the enemy ...er...perhaps Well if I was Al Queda and I wanted to retaliate, I would post the following ad in a Milwaukee paper: "Wanted, Beer Truck Driver. Top pay and free health insurance. Seeking highly motivated individual, Navy SEAL experience preferred." Then just wait and see who shows up. |

Please tell me you people really believe that they will freely give away anything more than some basic tactical maneuvers or formations they no longer use. If someone believes that, then they don't know much about about the military. You know what they want you to know. This doesn't just go for the SEALS. One retired general is sick of hearing about it from the Navy SEALs. "They’ve been splashing all of this all over the media,” retired Lt. General James Vaught, said at a meeting of the National Defense Industrial Association yesterday. “I flat don’t understand that. If you keep publishing how you do this, the other guy’s going to be ready for you, and he’s going to shoot down every damn helicopter and kill every one of your SEALs. Mark my words. Get the hell out of the media." The thing that really gets me is the Navy SEALs appear to be "Going Hollywood" and making movies about their exploits. They should remain in the shadows, silent warriors. Please tell me I am wrong? |

I also think they are telling too much about operations, training, missions, etc.. Never a good idea. "Here let's give the enemy our training manual, and while we're at it, maps of our positions with details of our strategy and tactics." Oh absolutely. The SEALS are even working with the friggin video game makers, showing them how it's really done. They really need to STFU!!! |

I think they deserve better treatment. i don't think he was treated bad, he didn't follow the rules/regulations to get what he wanted. he was in long enough to know how to get what he wants.. I agree.....he knew how the military pensions and medical worked. |
|
|
|
i almost agree with you, but i think the interviewer may have scewed what the seal was really saying. he can't be that dumb I just wish these SEALS would remain anonymous, silent, mysterious and be feared by the entire world. The more they talk, the more human they become. I also think they are telling too much about operations, training, missions, etc.. They just need to STFU!!! And quit writing books too! |

These SEALS need to just STFU.

That's really funny. I wonder of everyone did that, what might happen. Too many people are PC, I for one wish more would fly it and fly it proud! I'm not pc, but I gotta diverge with you on this one. I have black friends and I know this represents a shameful era in our history. For my friends sake, I am against it. Not really. The slavery problem was nationwide. For all its problems, the members of the CSA were correct to assert their right to secede. (for those who don't know, the civil war was not over slavery. It was about several things, including conflicts over nullification and secession.) Lincoln himself said in a letter to Horace Greely "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause, and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause. I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors; and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views." That's one letter from one man. The Civil War was about slavery....period! |

Considering the attack occurred over several hours, long enough for some to try to go and rescue them, I feel there was a dereliction of duty at the highest levels. Only in a sense did it occur over several hours. It was two separate attacks that occurred about six hours apart, but each attack only lasted about 20 minutes. After the first attack, they thought it was over, but just didn't come out, in case the attackers were still around. Perhaps we should station a division of marines at every embassy, outpost, mission, and office around the world? Just to make sure that none of them are neglected. Yes, wherever situations have the potential to become volatile. And remember, soldiers await commands. The date 9/11 should be a preparedness day. You have got to be kidding! I'd like to think that you're kidding! There are over 250 US Embassies around the world. We have over 25 in the Middle East and North Africa area alone. I believe we only have 3 or 4 active Marine Divisions. Let's get real..... |

At first I was all like WOOHOO, then was like...bummer! JACKSON, Miss. – Officials say a mistake is to blame for the Confederate flag being raised over the Mississippi Supreme Court building on Friday. Kym Wiggins, public information officer for the state Department of Finance and Administration, tells The Clarion-Ledger that the flag was put up accidentally when workers were replacing a worn Mississippi state flag. Wiggins says workers had gone to a local vendor to get state flags and were given two boxes labeled "Mississippi State Flag." She says that unknown to the workers the boxes actually contained Confederate flags. The flag was up for about two hours. Wiggins says the vendor has been notified to make sure no future problems take place. What an embarassment.... |
